This may have been mild dehydration already set it, or maybe the nectar of the gods is found in Wisconsin. Ignoring my possible impared judgement, this wasn’t a bad brew. It was surely the best beer I’ve ever had out of a can. I would much like to try it again, but I’m not sure if it can be easily purchased in my area (mid-Michigan) pumpkinheart (63), Aurora, Illinois, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | May 12, 2008 Bottle into Shaker glass. Pours a golden lemony color with a rocky white head. Aroma is light, floral hops and some grains. Flavor is a hopped bitterness, some subdued pale grains. Palate is actually fairly pleasant. To be fair, Special is the kind of beer that I would have picked up on a cycling or rafting trip in Northern Wisconsin back in my late teens or early 20’s. For that purpose, this is a really refreshing, simple beer. I mean really: who’s really going to take bottles of Chimay or FFF Dark Lord on a camping trip?!?! A local, easy drinker is the way to go. phishpond417 (1953), Madison, Wisconsin, USA

| 1.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/20 | Apr 5, 2008 Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a light golden color with a large white head. The aroma as average industrial lager. The flavor was lightly sweet and tangy with a hint of yeastiness and a medium body. No real finish. Tripplebrew (502), Saint Paul, Minnesota, USA
| 1.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 6/20 | Mar 22, 2008 Pours a clear lemon yellow with light white head. Aroma is of grain and cereal with hops. Flavor is very light of cereal and hints of hops. Body is very light with lots of carbonation. Reminds me of a miller light. Why this is an ’anniversary’ ale escapes me. | 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 22, 2008 12 oz bottle. Clear yellow, fizzy. Bubbly. Cereal and pale malt flavor. Mildly sweet. For a pale lager, this is actually pretty good. More body and flavor than the typical pale. colts9016 (198), Idaho, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 9/20 | Mar 12, 2008 Pour: A golden amber color with little head
Nose: Toasted malt, and hints of citrus and floral.
Taste: Not a full flavor lager but a medium strength with malt, yeast and hops all noticeable but fairly balanced.
Body A nice medium body beer to medium light.
Finish: Clean and easy drinking with a hint of bitterness.
Overall: A good and simple made beer that isn’t great but isn’t bad either
