Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

Draft at Hop Leaf. Poured a clear light orange with a white head. Smelled of clove, light cereal grain, and grassy hops. Light to medium bodied. Tasted of pale malts, butter, and slight apple into the finish. Spicy accents were also present including the likes of clove and cinnamon.

Tap @ Publick House, Brookline, MA. Pours a hazy amber color with a thick white head. Aroma is almost all yeast with a slight hop characteristic. The flavor is a bit yeasty but very heavy on the hops, with a slight spicy finish. It was a solid beer, but it never really took the good pieces to the next level.

A nice refreshing strong ale pouring with a good lasting head and an apricot color. Aromas are fresh and fruity. Medium nectar with ample residual effers that make for a cotton soft texture. This is a fruity beer with fresh flavors of peach and vanilla nectar to also include some melon and citrus. The finish is fresh with lingering fruit and a mild bittering. The sweetness level is mild yet defined. A very refreshing beer.

Pours with a hazy golden orange body and a towering snow white coloured head, which sustains for almost the duration of the glass. Aromas are inviting, dominated by noble hops and sweet malt, in quite equal proportions. Palate displays honey, lemon, sweetened apricot and some chewy caramel malt. Great support comes from both the hops and yeast. Hops add a great degree of floral spice, while trademark Belgian yeast adds white pepper and star anise.
