Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

330ml bottle. Suffers from green bottle syndrome. Skunk-hop nose which I kind of enjoy. Soapy white head. Lemon grass, subtle onion, and citrus zest notes. Finishes astringent and chemically. Not particularly hoppy (unlike description) as it is tangy and citrus. Spring, summer beer.

draft @ uber - clear and dark gold with huge white head; fruity and floral aromas and there is a little kick of hops; apple in the flavors and a little sour; not my cup of tea (beer)

330 ml, bb 2/09. Hazy, golden-orange with a large and lasting head. Creamy-sugary sheet of lace left on the glass. Aroma is lemon, honey and spicy yeast. Flavor is a citrus tang with slight honey, lemon peel, white wine alcohol, and a nice dose of peppery-dry grass herb that gives notes of wood and mint. Light-medium body is soft, dry, and a bit frothy. Smooth drinker on a spring time afternoon.

Cloudy orangey gold, with a loose, spongy head. Fruity, citrusy spicy herbal aroma. Flavor is almost tart, with a lot of citrusy notes. Some woodsy herbal notes, as well.

Pours a very hazy straw colour and moderate head. Nose- sweet belgian candi sugar. Taste- very sweet. Residual sugars are noticable. Leaves a syrupy taste in the mouth Some bitterness in the finish. Mostly a super sweet tripel. Good desert beer. Drinkability is decent and carbonation is lower than expected.

Bottle. BB4 C4 2009. Poured a little too vigorously. Cloudy dark orange-amber with fluffy white head. Pieces of sediment. Sour lemon cream aroma. Starts creamy and smooth then sour with a harsh heavy doughy yeast and hop finish. Smooths out as you drink but retains the heavy mouth feel.

Yellow with a huge head. Nice aroma of orange, coriander and citrus. The flavours are very fresh, sweet, fruity and floral. Excitingly refreshing and a personal weakness of mine.
