Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

Pours a deep hazy gold color with a giant creamy white head and some fantastic lacing. Aroma is sweet, with honey, nuts and yeast. Flavor seems very similar, but with a nice hop bite and some alcohol on the finish. Great Beer.

Bottle. Pours a hazy golden with a large long lasting white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of floral & earthy hops with notes of black pepper, yeast, honey, and sweet malt. Taste is the same as aroma. Medium to medium thin mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitterness. Very good.

25cl. Bottle: Dark gold beer with a very creamy thick ever-so-slightly off-white head. Hoppy banana-bread aroma, almost sugar coated hops. Honey and something vaguely nutty. Pretty simple flavors upfront, mainly toasted bread with some honey and an earthy/spicy hop. The beer then lies dormant on your tongue for a little while before becoming very sweet and full of something spicy herbal and almost minty all at the same time... anis? A little metallic towards the end with a bitter, bread finish.

Appearance: Pours a golden body hazed up by a shlew of fine particles and topped with a small, fizzy, white head. Smell: Sweetish, honeyed aroma laden with fruit esters, a bit of spice, and notes of grass, flowers, and light citrus. Taste: Sweet maltiness with a touch of caramel and honey. Fair amount of the typical Belgian esters. Light floral and citrus hop flavors. There’s never more than a mild bitterness. Spicy yeast hints. Hint of clove as you approach the grassy, drying finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Not bad! Note to self: try it again sometime.

This is a fine ale indeed! It pours a lovely cloudy golden color (I have a soft spot for cloudy beer) and it has a really nice, large off-white head. The flavor is sweet, but with a lot of hops. It has a very good body to it. I will enjoy having this one again
