Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

Oh, this is nice and I love this well-heavy overdosed hoppy beer. Get it draught and it’s the best in the sun. Although very hoppy it’s also fresh and sweet...if you can find it!

Appearance: blond bronze color. Great head, rocky, dense and very persistent. Beautiful foam. Aroma: soft malty; fruitiness of peaches, grapefruit, quince, lemon, orange and ripe pineapple. Light, nice and refreshing sourness. Intensive hoppy, similar to peel citric fruits. Some liquory. Flavor: medium and persistent hoppy, refreshing and medicinal-herby. I remember a good Tripel. Not very complex, citric-fruitiness of lemon, peaches and pineapple. Nice bitter-fruitiness of peel grapefruit. Dry-hoppy finish, with metallic touch and soft liquory. Palate: light body, semi-oily texture. Medium carbonation.

From tap at Ølbaren. Pours slight hazy orange with a hue white head. Slight sour/acidic aroma, freshing at first but turns into a slight sweaty aroma. Soft almost creamy mouthfeel. Slight sweet caramel flavoured. Slight yeasty. Minor grain flavour note too. Soft, slight sweet bitter finish. Softly balanced brew. Flavour was good but aroma not quite as expected, I’m unsure if tap lines had gotten infected.

Finally entering all my "Better Know a Style: Belgian Strong Ale" tasting 07 results. An aroma of of strong orange and some sweetness. Apperance was golden with white head. Flavor was light malt and orange. Light to med body, lively yet soft carb that mellows to some creaminess.

Pours a copperish gold with a small dense head, a little sweet with a tangy bitter aftertaste.

Flaske. Rigtig dejlig duft af humle, men ovverraskende lidt bid i smagen. Dette passer perfekt til mig. Meget velafbalanceret,.

Had on tap at sharp edge in pittsburgh. Pours clear gold color with very very froathy white head. Aroma very piney and hoppy - earthy. Flavor malty and sweet but big pine and earthy prescence. Slighly bitter hop finish.

12 oz bottle, Well’s Discount Liquors. Pours a slightly cloudy dark gold body under a one inch fizzy beige head with lots of retention due to the vigerous carbonation. Aroma is fruity and yeasty with an herbal undercurrent. Light citrus and lime zest. Flavor is pale doughy malt with a fairly apparent herbal spicing. Lots of yeast influence, and noticable alcohol on the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and fairly thick in texture. Moderate fizzy efforvescent carbonation. This was OK, but not a favorite. I found the alcohol was a bit much for the beer.
