Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

On tap, in the bottle on a train and on a plane. A great beer .....hoppy when fresh and inviting, only the Westy blond is better a Belgian blonde. Page 373 of Michael Jackson’s Great Beer Guide and only 299 of this 500 Classic Brews to go.

Bottle. Pour s hazy golden colour with a big creamy long lasting rocky white head. Very creamy thick sticky long lasting lacing! Aroma of hops, fruity, alcohol, bit yeasty some sweetness.Nice stingy touch on the tongue. The flavour is very hoppy, yesty, some alcohol. Bitter alcoholic finish. Quite tasty beer indeed.

Bottle at home. Very good. Really creamy, hoppy with high gisting. Bit of a tart flavour. Fruity, but not sweet. Strong and smooth finish.

Nice cloudy golden pour with a thick foamy head. Aroma was subtle with hops and floral. Tasted fizzy with a tartness to it. Little bite to it as it went down but finished smooth and creamy.

Bottle and draft from Poperinge. Cloudy appearance with a slight hoppy nose. Very light flavoring and very easy to drink. I agree with other raters that it was very "tripel" in nature. Great bier, recommend trying it.

Murky orange (lots of sediment) out of a small 25cl bottle. Large, steady head. Grassy/floral hoppy aroma. Hoppy taste, balanced out by nice sweet-ish malt and bready yeast. A bit bland and one dimensional. Good mouthfeel, but very light on carbonation. Gets bonus points for the low price (less than 1$ for a bottle).
