Sweet and spiced body, cool but not really that great. Somewhat bland ending. maniac (2628), Richmond, Virginia, USA

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 13, 2006 This beer is all about the hop, and on the same lines as an IPA, but more of a bright and clean tasting hop and doesn’t taste like glue. Poured a bright yellow with possibly a slight green tinge to it, with about a 2 finger foamy, beaten-egg-like head. Hops comes forth first as the scent with some mild doughy-like malt. Taste is great, clean, very refreshing. after4ever (2773), Brier, Washington, USA

The body’s medium with some relatively high carb, maybe almost-fizzy but not quite. The flavor, though, is a different story: rich herbal hops and some delicious bretty banana around the back end.</para>
<para>The girlfriend flipped for this beer, proclaiming it her favorite Belgian in recent memory, and, while I won’t go that far, it’s very good. I had the bartender open a St Bernardus to broaden her palate further, but the Special Edition was awfully yeasty for me, so this was the Gran’ Champeen for her tonight.</para> scraff (1943), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 11, 2006 Draft @ Max’s - Hazy gold, thin creamy white head. Nose held interesting notes of apple, and lemon rind with soft tones of grassy peppery hops. Flavor was more floral, citirc, very dry, with more hints of pepper. Light to medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry, tart, bitter finish. Not bad, not great... Sigmund (2286), Hafrsfjord, Norway

Slightly hazy pale golden colour, large head. Nice hoppy aroma, some yeasty and wheaty notes too, hints of citrus and pineapple. Flavour has dominant hoppy notes but not much else, relatively tart and bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden, a refreshing beer despite its strength. fidemaster (172), USA

Asweet pear, aplle, yeast taste similar to duvel yes. Not as complex, not as smooth. A horrible after taste. Not nearly as creamy. Nice aroma.
