Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

250 ml bottle, bought in Frederikshavn, Denmark. Slightly hazy pale golden colour, large head. Nice hoppy aroma, some yeasty and wheaty notes too, hints of citrus and pineapple. Flavour has dominant hoppy notes but not much else, relatively tart and bitter finish. Alcohol is well hidden, a refreshing beer despite its strength.

At the bar I wa stold if I like Duvel this will be even better. Needless to say .... yeah no. Asweet pear, aplle, yeast taste similar to duvel yes. Not as complex, not as smooth. A horrible after taste. Not nearly as creamy. Nice aroma.

Hazy orange beer, persistant creamy head, medium carbonation and lots of laces. Aroma is peppery with some notes of citrus. As beer warms up, the nose is more fruity and to some extent, it reminds me of Duvel (pear, pepper and yeast). Unfortunately, the similarities end there, for I found it lacks balance. Very bitter ends on a near-metallic taste. A good aperitif.

Cloudy yellow orange beer thick fluffy white head. Aroma is a combination of mint and steel. Sweet fruity (peach/pear) Belgian malt and yeast. Light spice especially black pepper. Flavour is slightly fruity and spicy. Some soft fresh grassiness. Very herbal tasting with light honey flavour. Decent.

Earthy, cereal and lightly phenolic aroma. Poofy head, hazy tripel coloring. Lightly phenolic, medium bitter, buttery and medium metallic. Somewhat briny. Melow briny, lightly sweet finish. A mishmash. On tap, d.b.a. NYC.
