Commercial Description:
Hommel is the local abbreviation of humulus, from the botanical name for the hop plant. Confusingly, it also means bumble bee in Flemish. Poperings Hommelbier is a hoppy, golden-bronze, ale. It is made from a blend of winter, summer and aromatic pale malts.

A slightly unclear light orange beer with no head. The aroma is very fruity and slightly hoppy which makes a very nice aroma. The flavor starts out bitter with a good bitter mouthfeel - but very little sweetness - with no palate over the middle of the tongue. A very nice fresh summer beer. The bitternes is a very nice complex one, that lingers.

(Bottle 25 cl) Deep golden colour with a nice, full head - good lacing. I had expected a very hoppy beer and although the hops definately are present they’re in no way overpowering. The candi-sugarish sweetness is more pronounced combined with a floral, fresh fruitiness. A very harmonic strong golden ale. 070795

From tap at Ølbaren. Pours slight hazy orange with a hue white head. Slight sour/acidic aroma, freshing at first but turns into a slight sweaty aroma. Soft almost creamy mouthfeel. Slight sweet caramel flavoured. Slight yeasty. Minor grain flavour note too. Soft, slight sweet bitter finish. Softly balanced brew. Flavour was good but aroma not quite as expected, I’m unsure if tap lines had gotten infected.

Pours amber coloured and thick. Strong ammonium like hop aroma. Medium bodied, toffee flavour. Dryish and lively, fruity and lightly yeasty. Long bitter finish.

Bottle. Hazy golden in colour with a medium white head. A bit fruity and yeasty as well as hoppy. Notes of citrus and maybe a hint of orange.

Bottle, 7.5%. Bready, grassy hop aroma. Clear golden colour. Stable white head. Tastes a bit old, even though it is 2 years until BB date. But quite drinkable. Not that hoppy. Good hop flavour, but not too aromatic or bitter.

Bottled. Hazy golden colour with mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity hoppy along with caramel and slight spicyenss. Flavour is fruits, malts, slight honey and caramel and a weak metallic note also. A quite pleasant beer, which is very smooth to drink.
