Dryish with clean mouthfeel, some orange jam and bitter almond. Freshly hoppy with long bitter finish. Pleasant, but with less character than the Hommelbier. fonefan (11638), VestJylland, Denmark

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Bottle at The Palace Hotel, Poperinge. Blond, thick rocky off white head. It’s an ok slightly wheaty blond beer. Slightly cereally aroma, some citrus hop on finish. Minimal yeast character. It’s a pretty standard Belgian blond, with more wheat beer character and less estery yeast/spice. OK, if a little unexciting. MesandSim (5852), London, Greater London, England

Bottle from Kris Wines. Sadly not even a patch on a certain other beer with Poperings on the label... Clear deep golden with a white head that settles quickly to a very thin film. Light hoppage in the aroma and that obvious sweet/sour/soy note that is characteristically Verhaeghe. Flavour is similar with some faint whiskey notes and light spice. Alcohol is pretty well hidden. Not bad. Not great. JorisPPattyn (5173), Antwerpen, Belgium
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jul 2, 2007 Deep golden colour; small, fast disappearing head. Alcoholic, toasted, if it is parsley, I’d surely venture pan-fried parsley. Corn, cornflakes, toasted malts. Distinct, if discreet, sweetness, but pretty little else. Medium bodied at best. Toasted flavour, (maybe strengthened by the alcohol) the only one being obvious (where our German raters found those hops, is a mystery to me), keeps going on... Disconcertingly characterless beer for this brewery. What the hell was the point? A touch more alcohol? bhensonb (4287), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 27, 2008 Tap at ’t Brugs Beertje. Nice hoppy aroma. Golden color with a creamy white head, lacing head. Creamy lightly sweet pale malt with a trace of kandi and persistent mild hop flowing through it. Flowery hop. Finishes balanced. Rather refined. sayravai (3733), Helsinki, Finland
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2009 (Bottled, 7.2% ABV) Sllightly hazy golden with a medium, bubbly and lacy head. Mild aroma of pale malt, some fruitiness, and light acidity. Hops come out in the dryish, fruity and mildly grassy-herby-bitter flavor - especially in the dry, slightly acidic finish. Not as plentiful and delicious as in the Hommelbier, though. Medium-bodied, slightly slicky palate with lowish carbonation. Easily drinkable and somewhat hoppy, but that’s about it. Anyway, if this manages to lure more women into less sweet and girly beers, it’s a good thing. Fin (3421), Merton, Oxfordshire, England
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 15, 2007 On tap at the Palace Hotel, Poperinge, West Flanders, Belgium, 26-06-07 Large white cushion of a head on this golden beer. Good hop and malts, quite tasty. Started as a bit of a joke apparently that got a bit out of hand which then forced them into producing a beer.
