Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

22oz bottle shared with Madvike. Pours a dark brow that is almost black. Smells of bourbon, caramel, malt, and roasted coffee. Taste is the same with a hint of wood on the finish. I liked this one a lot.

22oz. with a deep dark brown/black pour, extremely thin tan head that barely lasts through a quick tasting. Aroma hints at oak aging, roasty malts, and a touch of licorice, but not much else. The very second it touches the tongue, the incredibly strong smokiness follows. This is actually more smoke than O’Fallon Smoke Porter, and it’s overwhelming when cold. As it warms, the subtle oak and hops appear more prevalently to balance things out.

Bottle shared by MrPickles - Pours a beautiful black with a nice tan head. Smells a little malty and milky, with roast and chocolate. Tastes woody and roasty, with some definite whiskey heat. Tastes like a big porter...yum. It’s smooth and medium-bodied, and delicious treat I’d like to have again.

Pours dark black and completely opaque without even the slightest of mahogany edges when held to a light source. Thin .5 foam coffee colored head that quickly settles into a lasting ring. Very minimal lacing. Roasted malty aroma with some spicy pepper, medicinal syrup, licorice and dark fruit notes. Thick sludgy roasted malt flavor that has an interesting spice character and a bit of a syrupy body that lingers into a bitter dry hoppy finish. Pretty hoppy as most of their beers are with hints of roasted coffee, chocolate maltiness, oatmeal toffee, licorice, spicy pepper, cough syrup, bitter hops and some alcohol warmth in the finish.

Bottle thanks to TheCheeseMan. Pours black, with a fizzy brown head that quickly fades to a ring. Aroma is of coffee, sweet chocolate, cherries plums, and a faint hint of smoke. The same notes return in the flavour, along with a hint of liqourice. Some alcohol heat in the finish as it warms. Body is fairly thick, carb is a bit too fizzy for me. Good stuff.

Smells almost like cherries. Tastes of dark chocolate, wood, coffee, cherry/raspberry, with a mix of Bourbon or Scotch. This is a nice sipper, has a silky smooth body and a big warming finish.

Bottle. Dark brown pour, minimal carbonation and peat and smoke aroma. Flavor was also smoky peat and not much more. Not really impressed with this one.

Stockholm Beer & Whisky Festival 2009. Black color, small brown head. Sourish vinous aroma, chocolate and coffee. Roasted flavor, licorice, viol, cocoa, tar notes.
