| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 11, 2008 Bomber from Mr. Capone, iirc. Very sweet, rich caramel nose, pitted dark fruit with brown sugar and a touch of caramelized sugar, slight chocolate and a bit of vanilla/oak. Pitch pour with a gorgeous light brown head. Very dry, lightly bitter taste, caramel steeped in chocolate, with light grapefruit hop prickling and muddled toffee. Milk chocolate and cocoa, milk itself, bourbon and oak with a little booze seeping through (though very well hidden on the whole) to a warm, slightly acidic finish. Faint roast is buried just a bit by the fruit. Medium, oily, filmy body, and the comparison with spiked milk refuses to abate. A little bit of an indecisive mess, but a delicious one! Yummy! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2008 Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Much darker than I expected it to be. Smells right away of roasted malts and fruit. Great malty mouthfeel, with lingering alcohol. Definately worth trying. badbeer (433), Iowa, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 5, 2008 From the first batch. I like the new batch better, but do not have a new rate yet. Pours out black with a tan head that doesn’t last and leaves no lacing. Smell is excellent, chocolate-y, dark fruits, vanilla and oak. Unfortunately, the taste has a strong alcohol taste and burn to it. You can sense the malty flavors beneath, but they’re being overpowered at the moment. Thick mouthfeel, carbonation was borderline flat. Too much alcohol for now. I think this would be amazing with age on it.

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jun 28, 2008 22 oz bottle: the pour is black as coal with a small tan head. The aroma is fairly sweet smelling with notes of chocolate, coffee dark fruits and vanilla. The flavor is of sweet milk chocolate, caramel, vanilla and dark fruits changing to a more roasted, coffee and dark chocolate flavors with a mild bitterness. The 10% is very well hidden. Very smooth. I would drink this everyday if I could. paytoplay (123), , California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 19/20 | Jun 25, 2008 When I pick one of these up I always think it’s going to be a heavy beer. But it never is. Always dark and rich, but high toned, alcohol and acidity must give this lift and balance. Black coco coffee bitter malty flavors. A persistant finish that is awesome and I find it refreshing. If this were aged in old scotch casks it would be very similar to Ole Dubh.
Always outstanding and shouldn’t be overlooked as often as I do. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA

Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, alcohol, and chocolate. Taste is heavy chocolate roasted malt, coffee, dark fruit, and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and ver smooth alcohol. Very good. twitcher (293), framingham, Massachusetts, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Jun 24, 2008 bottle. Pours dark, mean, and thick. Not quite black, more like an opaque oily brown color. Minimal dark tan head. Smells of heavy roasted grain, burnt coffee, bittersweet chocolate, and dark fruity notes. Flavor is incredibly complex; dark, toasty malts, chocolate, more coffee action, raisins, booze, toffee. Big, full flavors all over the place. Very nice on the palate/mouthfeel as well, for a brew this big- very smooth and even, flavors and finish improve as it warms. Delicious.
