On Tap at Port Brewing/Lost Abbey in San Marcos. Pours dark black with a brown head. Aroma of overwhelming alcohol, but finishes with hints of coffee and spice. The alcohol hits the palate in the back of the sinus. This beer is intensely full of roasted malts. The palate is a little to carbonated. More like a Imperial Stout than an American Strong Ale. Comparable to Speedway and Stone IRS.

bomber - thanks to fordest. pours a thick black with a 1/4" tan head. Old Viscosity does not disappoint. Lots going on here.... dark fruits, chocolate, coffee, some bitterness on the finish... a real delight to drink. also some licorice, roasted malts and the bourbon barrels really come through across the nose and finish. very full body which is even across the palate. wonderful finish... which begs you to drink more.... I really wish I lived in San Diego.

Bottle from TexasJeep, sampled at Zinister’s tasting. Thanks!
Pours a put-it-in-your-crankcase black with an aroma of oak aged whiskey chocolate. Flavor is smokey whiskey oak barrel syrup. Thick and satisfying mouthfeel. Fantastic.

Thanks to my bro for sharing!!! Pours a black color with brownish head. Aroma is light caramel, chocolate, anise, and light alcohol. Taste is caramel, chocolate, notes of dark fruit and coffee, and light licorice. Alcohol is concealed pretty well. Creamy mouthfeel and well laid out. A different take on a American Strong Ale, but well done.

Thanks ’TheCheeseMan!’ You rock! Pours a pitch black with a medium mocha head. Aroma is dark roasts, some chocolae, maybe a bit of bourbon or brandy. It’s funny. Had the Smuttynose Baltic Porter and Dark Force before this and they’re so similar, yet they are 3 different styles. Taste is about the same as aroma. A creamy mouthfeel and easy drinking

Very deep almost black color. Aroma is somewhat lacking but may be a bit cold. Flavor of deep roasted malt and slight burbon. Clean finish with somw slight alcohol.

bottles from many, Pailhead, 5000, 11026 maybe a few others. defies my usual taste, but hard to get enough of this brew. Black, very oily, no head. Aroma all over the place, tons of dark fruit, chocolate, roasted grain, faint coffee. Flavor much the same. Plums, fig, raisins, chocolate, bitter cocoa, bitter grain, faint coffee, spicy hops in the finish. Thick luscious body/mouthfeel. For so much going on this is a well crafted beer.

bottle shared thanks to TexasJeep. Pours dark and thick with no head. Nose is roasty, burnt coffee and molasses. Taste was roasty with coffee and molasses like the aroma. Mouthfeel was medium-to-thick with dry finish. This was very much like a stout. Liked this a lot.
