Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

On tap at Porter’s Pub, UCSD. Deep black, with a very light head. Sweet roasted malt aroma, with molasses and chocolate. Intense flavor of roasted malt and chocolate, with a nice lingering toastyness. Very tasty and interesting.

22oz bottle: Oil can black pour with a thick, mocha head. The nose is pretty wild - the aroma ranges from coffee laden imperial stout to bitter strong ale to plummy doppelbock to molasses rich old ale. Wow - the barrel aging adds another layer of wood that brings everything together. The body is thick and viscous and starts bitter. Luscious notes of brownies, fresh coffee and barrel aging lead into a pleasant finish. Wow - this is one for the books. Originality is an understatement for this brewery.

Thanks bmartin. Got to try this along with an Older Viscosity thanks to Bob (durhambeer). Pours a nice black that allows some light through which then lets you see that its cloudy as hell. Thin brown coaxed head. The nose is sweet, smells like an RIS, light alcohol, molasses, coffee, no bourbon. The flavor has some warm alcohol, molasses, sweet, coffee, roast, bakers chocolate. I couldn’t get the bourbon out of this at all. Thick full palate. Very very nice.

22oz side-by-side with Older Viscosity. Dark and seriously murky pour. Very cloudy and thick, opaque and intimidating. Aroma of caramel, malt, molasses and sweet chocolate. Add the same flavors plus vanilla oak and an alcohol burn on the taste. Some fruit, too. This is a bruiser. Much more drinkable than the Older, but I still couldn’t drink more than 8 oz of it, probably.

Pours dark brown with a thin tan head. Smells of caramel, lots of earth, some spice, molasses. Tastes moderately bitter with some chocolate and lots of roast. Interesting and very much in the imperial stout meets old ale vein.

Bomber. Aroma of anise, coffee, molasses. Poured a dark brown with a thick dark tan head. Flavor was all as described in the nose and a touch of chocolate. Palate is full and oily just a slight burnt leftover malt taste. Overall this is aces!
