Pours beautiful dark plum color with medium tan head. Amazing aroma: chocolate, coffee, dark fruit, port wine, caramel. Great complex flavors all peaking through. The chocolate is complemented by great hop bitterness, roasted malts, and subtle raisin and plum. Palate is smooth with a slightly dry finish. Really fantastic beer.

22 ounce bottle from kmweaver
Very dark brown with some red hues. Smalllish brown head.
HUGE aroma! Roast and chocolate are apparent. I also find raisin, Reisin candy, pipe tobacco, smidge of pine. Fantastic!
The flavor is chocolate right up front, non specific hop flavors in the middle, and roasted bitterness in the end. Along with all this is pick out some smoke, dark cherry, and English Toffee. Damn this is a really good beer!
The body of this beer is quite substantial, yet easy to drink in quantity. The finish is surpisingly dry! As you can see, I really like this beer. I wish I had one of those slick vocabularies to give this wonderful beverage its just due. Thank you Tomme, and Ken.

The beer pours from the 22 ounce bottle a deep brown with some ruby highlights, the dark tan head stacks three or so fingers upon the body, it decomposes quickly leaving a consolidated sheet of lace to cover the glass. “WOW”! what a nose, its chock full of malt, sweet and mouth watering, hints of chocolate, coffee, Port wine, just wish I had some incense or potpourri with this fragrance. Start is thick with sweet malt, and a bitter bite from the 10 percent ABV, top is definitively full and rich. Finish has delightful hop presence, the acidy masterful, and a dry aftertaste that coats the palate, the alcohol warms the tummy, A real “Hoot” this masterpiece of the brewers art.

Pours a deep black color with a medium, light brown head. Very good aroma of roasted malt, coacoa and toasted bread. Excellent flavor of roasted malt, coacoa, toasted bread and anise with a dry, sweet finish. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture.

Very dark brown, coffee brown head. Strong coffee/milk chocolate aroma, some savory, meaty, bacon notes in there as well. Sweet, strong malty flavor, tons of roast character. Syrupy and thick. Clean with little ester development, massive roasty, sharp bitterness. Juicily malty at first, drifting to drier, dustier components later on. Sharp carbonation and prominent ethanol finish it out. Not altogether pleasant. A roast bomb.

22 oz. bottle from BevMo LaJolla. Pours an ebony color, opaque and viscous like oil as the name implies, along with a small medium brown head. Rich aroma, burnt chocolate, dark roastiness, molasses, red apple, cardamom, and herby notes. Rich dark chocolate flavors, anise, more roastiness, molasses, prominent alcohol, bourbon, coffee and kaluha. Full body, smooth and velvety with creamy carbonation. Yummy!

22oz Bottle. Pours just about black with big bubbly foam that dies quickly and leaves no lacing. Aroma is moonshine, little bit of malt and more moonshine. Flavor is real hot, bordering on obnoxious, some dark malts in there also but the heat steals the show. Mouthfeel is a very thin for 10%.

Bomber, with thanks to boboski! Pours a dark brown with a bubbly three finger tan head, great lacing. Aroma is bittersweet chocolate, molasses, fresh ground coffee, with light oak and some smokiness. Flavor supports the aroma nicely, with a lot coming through, and a bit of warmth. Palate is full and smooth, with a nice lingering smoky bitterness. This is one well rounded beer, and another hit from Port/LA.
