Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Pours like a garage oil pan with no head. Nice roasted aroma. Chocolate and coffee end with a nice bitter finish. HUGE BEER.

Appears a near black with a 1 finger, dark tan head that slowly fades out. Scattered streaks and spots of lacing are left around the glass. Smell is of brown sugar, molasses, maple, vanilla, cocoa, roasted nuts, caramel, fresh fudge…really complex stuff. Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a borderline cloyingly sweet flavor, which knocks it down slightly. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with molasses sweetness and some over the top cloyingness up front. Slightly thin finish.

From 22oz bottle...Poured cold and sipped over a long period of time, experience more pronounced flavors as it warmed...Black opaque hue with lasting tan creamy head, very nice sticky lacing. Smells of chocolate + stilton like blue cheese and a little burnt barley. Thick syrupy texture, as it warmed chocolate really came out in the flavor and so did the alcohol. Like a strong thick black coffee which has been left warming for a few hours. Some bitterness in the aftertaste and the burntness stays on your tongue for a long time. Pretty kick ass beer, seemed a bit more like an Imprial Stout than an American Strong Ale. Complex, yummy and buzz causing. Not an everyday beer but nice for a special occasion.

22oz. Bottle: Aroma is medium sweet. Smells of chocolate, coffee, malts, cream, roasting, and vanilla. Poured black in color with a small brow head that diminished. Opaque. Good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes mainly of chocolate malts, with roasting, coffee, alcohol, and a hit of cream. Medium to full body. Thick texture. Average carbonation. Long, malty, chocolate finish. Overall good, but a little boring.

bottle: jet black, more carbonation than I was thinking. substantial tan head. chocolate, coffee, aroma. bitterness was there, with a great finish about 3 seconds after the beer is down the gullet. Nicely done. A beer that requires a long time to drink.

Very dark brown body, dense tan head with some staying power, chocolate and smoke in the nose. Smoky, chocolatey, with some bourbon notes and moderate bitterness. A contemplative beer.
