kwoeltje (1313), Manchester, Missouri, USA Jun 21, 2007 (tasting at Brickskeller) black with dark tan head. Aroma of roasted malt. Flavor is dark fruits and maybe hints of oak. Wakie (612), Centreville, Virginia, USA Jun 21, 2007 The description is correct, this is a LUSCIOUS DARK ALE. The aroma was a brilliant blend of hops and sweet malty flavors. The taste took all the flavors in the aroma and added a touch of bourbon and oak to make it absolutely a must have for any fan of well aged beer. argo0 (6842), Washington DC, USA Jun 20, 2007 (draft) Black body with brown edges, topped by tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, raisin, some roast, light earthy. Taste is medium sweet, prune, some alcohol, caramel, light chocolate. A touch of brown sugar on the nose. Medium body. Lightly sweet taste loaded with malt and toast. Maybe a bit of fruit. Pine and alcohol finish. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Jun 17, 2007 22. Thanks, Aspidites! Pours deep grainy opaque black with a thick tan moussy head. Nose seems almost vacant at first, and really is fairly slight, but has some things to recommend it--a little bit of roast and toast. Super bold attack: big body, lots of flavors, decent carb. Roast and chocolate and sharp notes of grain husk and biscuit. Lovely piney hop notes on the finish. Beautifully done. eyesandsmiles (179), Mission Viejo, California, USA Jun 16, 2007 I think if you taste this you’ll agree it shares more in common with an Imperial Stout than anything else, the brewers qualms aside. Deliciously dark, tastes of blueberries. Shares some of the flavor of North Coast’s Rasputin Stout.
