drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jul 22, 2009 Thick sweet stout like beer. Hints of chocolate and some coffee. Maybe cherry. Well balanced and tasty. arondee (173), Tucson, Arizona, USA Jul 21, 2009 Pours tar black with a small brown head. Good carbonation (it’s hard to see through the tar), little bit of lacing. Aroma is coffee, dark chocolate, and cherries. The taste is also full of dark chocolate and coffee but is nicely balanced by bitter hops. Good amount of alcohol, thick mouthfeel. Very good. angrypirate06 (678), Texas, USA Jul 21, 2009 Bottle that I picked up while at Stone Sour Fest. Pours a thick black color with quickly receding beige head. Aroma is chocolate, leather, tannic, smoke, quite a bit of alcohol, oats. Flavor is ash, smoke, dark cherries, dark chocolate, alcohol is evident. Nice thick mouth feel. CanIHave4Beers (833), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jul 21, 2009 Pours a deep black with a small tight and long lasting head. Aroma is nutty with some molasses and some woodiness. The flavor is oaky and roasty with some espresso and a bit of chocolate, there is some plum and dark fruit, some alcohol shines through and makes this a very warming kind of a beer. Absolutely delicious. This stuff is very thick, big surprise! leaparsons (4659), Leicester, Leicestershire, England Jul 20, 2009 Bottle. Black with a thin beige head. Aromas are dark, strong coffee with liquorice. Peppery with molasses and some smokiness. Smells dark. Flavours are dark chocolate and roast coffee with some woody, peppery notes. Oily and rich on the palate. Slick, in a good way. vtafro (452), , New Jersey, USA Jul 20, 2009 Bottle @ the Cuvee de Castleton release. Oil like pour. Great flavor with aftertaste that is lasting but not offsetting. Roasted chocolate, coffee, malt, fruit and slight alcohol but great beer overall. ketchepillar (475), Viña del Mar, Chile Jul 19, 2009 Shakeyfest 09. Thanks Andy! Aroma is a bit undistinct. Some alcohol character muddling things up, but it’s not overpowering at all or anything. Great roasted barley in the finish. Slight oak. Finish is excellent, good chocolate. Very smooth. ericandersnavy (1039), crossroads, Texas, USA Jul 18, 2009 bottle thanks to sparky27. awesome beer. a little confused by the style category. poured a dark brown almost black with a chocolate brown head. aroma was malt, coffee, dark roast, dark fruit comes out more when it warms up a bit. flavor was coffee, chocolate, veinous, and alcohol. body was full with mild carbonation. overall a great beer. thanks eric!!
