Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

65 cl bottle at my garage-tasting May 8th. Vintage 2008. Black color, brown head. The aroma is dark malty and coffee. Flavor is coffee, dark malt, some sweetness and has a bitter finish.

Bottle. Black beer with a strongish head. The aroma is lightly malty, and the flavour is bitter and lightly milky coffee. Overall a very bitter coffee like beer.

bottle poured a dark brown bordering on black with a frothy brown head when poured with some vigor. aroma has roasted coffee, licorice, molasses, light vanilla, and faint barrel wood. oily coating mouth feel with light carbonation. flavor has thick dark malt, molasses, bitter coffee, mild wood, and a hit of baking chocolate. not sure how to classify this myself, bigger than imperial porter but falls short of imperial stout. it is big and rich with alcohol warming and a creeping bitterness mixed with dark side fruits. very enjoyable!

Strong, dark and serious. Considering that somewhat rough bitterness, underlying toffee sweetness and alcoholic warmth, it drinks smoother than it has any right to. Boozy, bitter, sweet with a woody tartness. Did I mention boozy? Night. Cap.

Pours a dark black. Aroma of roasted malt. Taste is smooth, creamy, tarry, and alcohol, with slight coffee & chocolate. It definitely tastes like a mild Imperial stout.

Pours like diluted treacle syrup, with small dark brown-greige head. Coffee, bread, alcohol and vanilla/oakwood. Very liqueurish - coffeeliqueur. Alcohol, fusels, coffee (with very roasted beans), wood in the finish, almost vinous. Very slight sourness. Pretty carbonated on palate/lips; certainly alleviating this very thick, nearly viscous liquid. Very good, if a bit ideomatic... - what, not an I. Stout?

Shared a bottle with a group at Kuhnhenn Summer Solstice. Pours dark brown, almost black, with tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, dark fruit and booze. Taste more of same, with creamy rich mouthfeel. Smooth with good carbonation. Nice!
