Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

dark brown small light brown head. hoppy full aroma, but faint. flavor is roasted grains, caramel, malts, lots of malts, licorice, chocolate. flavor is a strange mix between a stout and an ipa.

Bottle. Blackish beer with no head. Chocolate aroma with sweet malt and vanilla. Rich malt flavor with chocolate, coffee, roast, and bourbon. Lingering bourbon and malt. Noticable alcohol. Full bodied. Nice complexity though I’d like the roast to mellow a bit with some aging.

Pours a deep black color with a medium, light brown head. Very good aroma of roasted malt, coacoa and toasted bread. Excellent flavor of roasted malt, coacoa, toasted bread and anise with a dry, sweet finish. The body is light to medium with a liquorous texture.

Bottled. Aroma has chocolate, american hops, raisins and moccha. Cloudy, black-brown coloured with athin, beige lace. Taste is a bit sweet, with some roasted chocolate malts, raisins. It has a very ligering hoppiness with a good bitter-dry finish.

Very different, I question its claim as an American Strong Ale. Still, I like it. Pours an extremely dark brown with a light brown head that disappears in about a minute thirty. Aroma is chocolate covered cherries (by far the strongest description of the smell). Some light hops in the background. Taste is like a strong sweet stout; coffee, but it has the spirt/hop and alcohol profile of an American strong ale. Intresting Combination. Goes down oily smooth with lively carbonation. Very unique.

Bottle from a grocery in Seattle. The beer pours used motor oil black with a medium light brown head that recedes slowly. Thick rings of lacing on the glass, and a good sized chunk of sludge in the bottom of the bottle. Aroma of roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate. Full body with lots of roasted malt and coffee flavor plus some dark chocolate and hops. The finish is espresso and chocolate with a mild warming alcohol and hops aftertaste. Very good overall, makes me want to track down the Older Viscosity even more.

In short: A thick and tasty Imperial Stout calling itself something else. An orgy of roasted malt balanced by intense resinous hops. Fantastic
How: Bomber. About 6 months old.
The look: Black body with a small tan head.
In long: Nose of a bowl of molasses in a candy store. Fantastic body, syrupy yet silky. Thick caramel, molasses and chocolate cover a dense layer of roasted cereals. Roastiness level is medium relative to the style (unofficially imperial stout to me). Very chewy. More floury chocolate notes as it warms-up. A touch of smoke. A little red liquorice on the comeback. So far so good but where this beer goes from very good to excellence is in the hop department. Intensely hopped, very resinous and strong bitterness. What a tasty beer. You know Port Brewing is confident about this black beer to dare giving it a name like that. With that type of quality their beers will sell no matter what. I can’t wait for their Armpit Sweat pilsner.

Bottle from Beermerchants. Black with a small beige head. Sweet roasted malts, molasses aroma, toffee and chocolate. Rich chocolate toffee flavours, hints of roast, hints of rum. Still well-balanced. Warming alcohol. Full-bodied. A hard day’s nightcap.
