Dark brown and a little muddy. Molassesy, a little figgy, with hints of coffee. Big flavour - alcohol, toffee, coffee, wood....crazy complex but not terribly cohesive. More interesting than wow.

Very dark brown color, oily, beige head. Nutty aroma, dark chocolate and roasted malt, very well complemented by some vanilla. Full body, strong flavors (malt, roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, light coffee...); unfortunately there is a light cardboard touch. Strong hopping, but overwhelmed. Very strong alcohol, burning feeling (maybe too much). Great.

Bomber from BeerMerchants delivered to my kitchen by none other than Phil l himself. I’d had a pretty productive day at work so I thought I deserved some good beers. So I’ve had Brew Dog Punk IPA and Chaos Theory and also Stone Ruination so far this evening, so I guessed it was time for something dark, and here we are. Pretty looking beer that is on the black side with a thin tan head, that does die down to very little. The aroma is fairly subdued on the choc and coffee front but does have some attractive dark fruit sour aromas. Bit of charred wood, some hop, some oddly green apple. Bit of heat from the alcohol too on the nose. In the mouth, it’s full and interesting, but not big wowing me. Yes the dark plum, damson fruit carries on into the swallow with some blackcurrant too. Swallow is ok, but also some acidity and thinness there too. Heat on finish, with some tongue tingling hops. A solid beer with some decent dark choc and espresso coffee notes with some decent dark fruit flavours. Doesn’t wow me in any way. Solid and a good drink, but I think I probably want something more from this. Burn on the finish after a few quaffs is a bit of a turn off. Oh and Munster are kicking Sale in the Heineken Cup. I just wish my review of this beer was as good as ClarkVV’s, then again I could say that about a fair few beers.

Bottled 0,66 l. Opaque black, small tan head. Aroma is not so strong: alcohol, licorice, paper and hints of toasted malts. Suprisingly easy to drink - alcohol is not so dominating. Licorice, vanilla, cold coffee, toffee and Dark Horizon Second edition flavors! Not really spectacular (although name indicates so) but at least very interesting beer.

Bottle. Pours a nice deep dark brown colour. Sweet roasty, chocolate, wood, vanilla aroma. God mouthfeel. The flavour has caramel, soft roasted maltiness, chocolate, dark fruits, wood, hops and alcohol. Sweet hoppy and mildy roasted long lasting finish. A great brew indeed.
