A rich and complex nose of graham cracker, molasses, marshmallow, cashew, and buttery milk chocolate. BIttersweet flavors incoporated all the above with just enough citric hop bitterness to beat back the major malt player. This full bodied brew would be perfect to sip by a fireplace on a cold snowy night.... fordest (1954), Santee/San Diego, California, USA

Has a WTF smell of grassy, buttery hop pellets and some blackened malts. Full bodied and smooth. Decent taste is blackened malt with a black licorice sweetness. Has a strong alcohol bite to finish. Different best describes this beer. Aged bottles of this are better, a cellared bottle update is in work. 31207 mar (1944), Dallas, Texas, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 12, 2007 Bottle at the Knoxville Spring(ish) tasting. Pours opaque black with amber edges and almost non-existent head. The aroma is very malty with some dark tones, chocolate, coffee, raisins, vague fruit. The flavor is toast, molasses, clove, alcohol, and some cocoa. Gets ashy toward the finish and leaves an alcoholic aftertaste. Not bad, but needs to go with food. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Feb 22, 2007 Near black pour, moderate head, blah lacing and retention. Aroma is lots of dark malts with chocolate, caramel, darker fruits, lesser coffee and roast, and also quite hoppy with alcohol. Flavor brings this, medium to heavy body with a watery mouthfeel and too much alcohol. A lot going on, but it is too raw and I didn’t enjoy it at all. Can someone tell me why this brewery is good?
