| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 17, 2008 Thin head that does not last long. Reduces to a thin creamy foam on top. Rich roasty and malty aroma. Lots of molasses, brown sugar, roasted grains and a bit of vanilla. Color is a very dark brown with a hint of red around the edges. Rich malty flavor. Lots or roasted malts, some burnt toast, sweet chocolate and a nice hops bitterness. Noticable alcohol presence that warms as it goes down. There is plenty of flavor and body to offset the alcohol. Finishes rich and smooth and creamy. Lots of lingering roasted grains and sweet malts. Just a very complex and powerful brew with loads of flavor. A very good ASA. rederic (1811), montréal, Quebec, Canada

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 9, 2007 Pitch black with a weak brown head. Sweet aroma has notes of molasses, chocolate, dried fruit, coffee, and roasted nuts. Full bodied, low carbonation, and a slightly oily feel. Good flavor. The chocolate and coffee come out with some touches of a molasses cookie. 11026 (1799), Alabama, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2007 Bottle. Very little carbonation released with opening, a small, brown head forms slowly, and fades rather quickly. Some scattered lacing. Aroma is pretty pleasant, plummy, some sweetness, dark fruits, a touch of higher alcohols perhaps but not obtrusive. Full bodied, coating, lower percieved carbonation works well. Choco-boozy in flavor. Initially somewhat sweet with chocolate and dark fruits in the fore, a touch of alcohol in the middle and finish. Ample hop bitterness at the finish. Really pretty nicely done. Lots of nuances for a big brute of a beer. illinismitty (1797), Nashville, Tennessee, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 13, 2007 Updated: Apr 27, 2009Bottle thanks to Zug4abby. I shared this with the TN crew in Knoxville. Pours out thick or sludgy muddy brown (think chocolate milk), with a thin brown head. Port like aroma, with some alcohol and dark malts in the background. Thick, earthy, and milky texture and mouthfeel. Very soft carbonation. Flavors of raisens, maple syrup, chocolate, vanilla all shine through as the beer warms. The hop bitterness balances this beer out rather nicely. Faint amount of alcohol on the finish, but hidden well considering the style. Interesting and enjoyable. I would like to call out Pizza Port for making a great beer. You are welcome to serve this beer anywhere you f****ing please. Thanks Abby! If you see another and are up for a trade, beermail me.
Cellar Check 4-09. This is the first bottled version 2006 or 7?) and the hops have faded, and a tad amount of oxidation is setting in- but it’s not bad cardboardy type. It’s still drinkable, but not as good as fresh. I would not cellar this more than a year. thornecb (1779), Marblehead, Massachusetts, USA
