Pours a dark brown, near black with a small tan head. Nose is rich and full of roastiness, vanilla, and seemingly that bourbon sweetness from a barrel aged brew... Smooth and creamy on the palate with flavors of cocoa, coffee, roast, and moderate sweetness into bitters. Nice level of complexity and very pleasant to drink. | 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Apr 10, 2007 After having a bad day yesterday I came home to find that my box from Brian had arrived. So I went through seeing what I had received, and this one was in there. Without thinking twice, or thinking about sharing a bomber of this wonderful beer with people I know at a tasting or whatever, I popped the cap off of it. Pours out a dark brown color with a small like tan head that faintly appears on after the beer has poured. The smell is full of chocolate and some coffee. A touch of grass from the hops is noted as well. Taste is rich and thick, full of chocolate and coffee and hoppy flavors. Damn, a real challange to drink this bomber due to to thickness, but I was certianly up for the challange. Really really good stuff. I wish I could get about a case of this beer. A permanant addition to my want list. Ethereal (1707), London, Greater London, England

Pours an opaque extremely dark brown and looks superb. The complex aroma assaults your nose, hitting you with hints of musty old wood and musky sweat. The taste is all about the interaction of the dark bitter chocolate and coffee flavours with the wood notes. A great beer, one to sip and savour. Aroma of chocolate, molassis, vanilla, and burnt sugar. Tastes a little like burnt mocha coffee and wood. I get some bourbon qualities in the finish. Quite hot from the alcohol. Rich and full bodied.
