Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

An exceptionally dark pour with a nice thick tan head that lasts a good while. some artistic lacing. A very nice aroma offers chocolate, dark fruit and light chocolate notes. Flavor is big and aggressive with a mouth full of chocolate, coffee along with dark fruit, alcohol, anise

thanks to solan and mgumby. Hoppy nose, pours BLACK, no head. Thick and oily on the palate. Chocolate, intense flavor, but smooth. Hardly any carbonation. Heavy but so smooth, intense coffee flavor.

Chocolatey in a Hershey syrup kind of way. Subtle hints of vanilla on the finish. Very flavorful, but still quite drinkable.

22 oz bottle. Tarry brown with some tan foam around the edges. Lace striations. Molasses, brown sugar and light, fishy hops. Creamy body, light carb. Bittersweet chocolate, smoky prunes and more molasses. Smooth grapefruit pith holds down the back. Nice dark.

22oz bottle. Almost black beer with a sticky and lasting tan head. Aroma of burnt malt, coffee, alcohol, and brown sugar. The flavor has a lot of roasted malts, with some ashiness. Dark chocolate with some sugar, and a little vanilla/wood character. Finishes bitter, dry, and hoppy. Thick and creamy mouthfeel. There are some good flavors in here, but kinda feels like a stout with a shot of whisky in it. Drinkable in smaller doses. rerate: 22oz bottle. Black with a lasting tan head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, wood, caramel, and coffee. The flavor is smooth dark chocolate and coffee with light caramel, some wood and vanilla. Almost no alcohol and medium sweetness. Full bodied but not very heavy for style. Much better than I remember and honestly ridiculously good. An imperial stout if I’ve ever seen one, and very nice.

Got this from Boltz7555 a long time ago and just decided to break this out for no good reason. Pours black and thick with a thin tan head and definitely lives up to the motor oil references. Bourbon, roasted grains, chocolate malt, oak and vanilla all come flying out of the aroma. Makes you sit there for a while just trying to see what might be around the corner with this aroma. Chocolate malt, roasted grains, vanilla and bourbon all pop up at some time during tastes. Thick chewy and tasty with a nice roasty grain finish. Nice balance of flavors and worth all of the ratings, very complex and lucious beverage.

Pours thick and black w/ a full, semi creamy chocolate froth. Superb hang time. Just sits there like a stuborn mule that needs a good kicken. The lacisual aftermath renders a thick blanket. Aroma is highly roasted w/ espresso, leather, and bitter cocoa. Full nectar w/ very mild residual effers giving off a thick, silky texture. Upon further inspection I notice a residual sludge at the bottom of the bottle only after half of it ended up in my mug. Dense chocolate malts scortched beyond recognition. Huge hops drowned by a malted lava flow. A moderate sweetness holds it all together. Man, this is thick and nasty. Charcoal, pipe resin, molases, steak, a cloak of citrus velvet, and the holy scripture. The finish is bludgeoned w/ a hopsy, molases mallet. Seriously nasty from start to finsh. I love this brew. Highly recommended.

11/9/06 22 oz bomber sample thanks to drewbeerme, Pours black and a little syruppy. There’s no head but when I tilt the glass I can see the brown film of a residue left behind. The aromas is lots of chocolate, toffee, a little roasted reminding me of a doppelbock both in aroma and initial taste. The alcohol comes out in the nose more and more as it warms, it becomes a little bit bourbony. The mouthfeel is pretty thick a little sticky but really nice. Complex flavors that I honestly can’t quite put my finger on them all, chocolate, toffee, roasted, vanilla, nutty, and alcohol. Long finish with raisins and alcohol. It’s not quite a stout though I can’t say why, maybe its close to an imperial porter. I’m not sure though and I think that’s why I like it so much. Its too complex to pinpoint, the kinda beer I’d really like to keep drinking until I can. 8/3/9/5/18 = 4.3
