Pour BLACK, looks like an imperial stout. Soft beige head, nice lacing on the inside of my snifter. Aroma is smokey, and chocolatey. The hops come through, and add a nice dimension. There are also some coffee notes with some slight fruitness.......plums, and figs. Flavour is awesome! The hops are there, along with a wicked coffee taste, that finished with a great bitter chocolate that lasts forever. This is like liquid chocolate/coffee brownie, with hints of molasses. The mouthfeel is NUTS! Viscosity is dead on, this stuff is THICK. It just coats my mouth, after i swallow i can still feel the coating in the top of my mouth. The 10% is nowhere to be found, What an amazing beer, i can’t find anything wrong with it. asheft (1438), Marburg, Germany

Nice sweet pumpernickel aroma with good vanilla oak. Opaque black and viscous with a tan ring that leaves dots on the glass. Very pleasant sweet vanilla and mocha malt with a good balance of dark malt bitterness and hazlenut notes. Medium body, medium carbonation, slightly warming, lingering dark malt bitter. adrian910ss (1435), philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA

Pours a motor oil brown almost black color with a tiny tan head. Strong malty aroma with dark chocolate and alcohol hints. Taste is rich dark chocolate, roasted malts, nuts and warm alcohol. Bourbony flavor to it. Very good. OldGrowth (1431), North Carolina, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2007 bottle, from trade with bu11zeye. Real good aroma. Sweet. Dark, dried fruits, raisin, date, plum. Lite bourbon, some cocoa, a bready yeastiness. Clean dark brown/black color little orangy around the edges. Little to no head, no lace. Bitter roasty flavor. Like aroma, loses the fruitiness though takes on more of a chocolatey, coffee, little woody & bourbon. So as I type this it seems less like the aroma. : ) Medium body, oily creamy mouthfeel, hot bitter dry finish. Nice BW. This one could sit a while longer if I could only age a beer without oxidation as I don’t think that flavor would helpo this one. Man I need to get out to southern California again. nqualls (1428), Nashville, Tennessee, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 1, 2008 Bottle. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, hop presence in the background. Flavor turned a bit medicinal at times, but the roasted flavor predominates and finishes bitter. Pretty solid brew, but nothing too special, and although this shouldn’t necessarily have anything to do with anything, I was expecting something a bit more original from arrogant claims on the bottle that this beer just can’t possibly be categorized...
