Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Pour is thick, oily black with a thin-density 3-finger sized head. Aroma is vanilla bean and bourbon, oak with coffee. Taste to match with strong cocoa added in. Palate is rich.

Thick and black body with thin chocolate head. Coffee, chocolate, licorice and lots of roasted malt. A big beer that I would have no problem putting a couple down of since it’s so damn good. Alcohol is pretty subdued. Slightly bitter finish. Taste lingers forever.

Shared by bgburdman and Bruno--Son of Professor--at C-bus tasting #4. Roasted malt aroma with a slight hint of bourbon or brandy. Black in color with a tan head. Very full palate adds to the experience. Tangy and bitter roasted malt taste hits first followed by solid chocolate hints and roasted coffee flavors as well. Very good.

black body, (even my led flash does not penetrate the brew), medium, quickly disappearing tan head, nice lace. really attractive beer. nose of chocolate, roasted malt, maybe a touch of coffee. flavor seems to lean more toward roasty coffee, but there are toffee hints, chocolate hints and a roasty malty aftertaste. medium bodied, with a hoppy bitter finish. the alcohol is too well hidden (i enjoy getting hit over the head by a big alcohol mallet), but a very well done effort, which i would do again, although i am not sure it is sessionable.

(22 oz. bottle from <A HREF=http://www.ratebeer.com/Place/massachusetts/w target=blank>Julio’s Liquors, cellared for 8 mos. after purchase) Tasty and complex...Pours very dark brown, looks opaque, 1/4" of tan head that settles to a thin lasting layer. Aroma of molasses, raisins, dark fruits, rum, coffee and chocolate. Yum. Mouthfeel thick and smooth. Nice fine rings of weepy lacing. Flavor is dark fruits, molasses, coffee roast and dark chocolate. Alcohol is not well-hidden but doesn’t detract too much. Medium-bitter coffee finish. This is very much like an Imp Stout, perhaps without the port-like flavors. Good.

I was a tad worried that after having Older Viscosity, I’d be disappointed with this one. Nope. What a great beer! Dark as night pour, this one could have passed for a stout. Chocolately, roasty, a touch of fruityness, some noticeable bourbon notes and a hint of vanilla. Just enough bitterness to balance out the hugely rich flavor profile. Velvety, PERFECT mouthfeel. I love it and I need me some more...NEED ME SOME MORE.

Bottle shared at Oktoberfest at Dickinsonbeer’s. Poured a dark purplish mahogany with ruby highlites with a brown head. Aroma of sweet cinnamon, grapes, and bittersweet chocolate. Flavor is dry, chocolaty, and lightly fruity... a little two much fruit to call this a stout, but way too dark and stout-like to fall under most other classfiications. Very strange yet tasty beer.

Black pour with no light showing through. Small, but creamy tan head that leaves nice lacing. Rich aroma of espresso and dark chocolate, with some sweetness as well. Roasty malt and hops in the flavor, with just a hint of caramel and fruit. Thick palate. Nice, not too bitter finish. Really good, especially for the price!
