Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Bottle shared by theisti with tjthresh and me. It pours black with a large, creamy head that reduces to a thin, mocha cap; quite pretty with patchy lace left upon the glass. The nose is of: chocolate, roasted malt and a lesser note of dark fruit. Medium-bodied and creamy-slick, it finishes with a warm, mellow finish. The flavor follows the nose: chocolate, dark roast, dark fruit and a dry, roasted finish. Wow! This is a great beer. Roasty, sweet, chocolaty and warm. Very nice. Thanks a ton for cracking this one for us, Tim!

Thanks to riversideAK for the bottle. Pours dark brown with nice sized brown head. Roasted espresso and sweat malt nose. Flavor is big on coffee up front, then settles down and chocolate starts to dominate. Nice lttle spice and black pepper notes also.

On-tap. Pours black. No hues or colors can be seen when held up to the light. Thin but dense brownish head that lingers through the entire glass. Not a huge nose for me. Smells of deep dark malts, coffee, and a little chocolate. Tastes of coffee and chocolate, with some grains and malt to back it up. Thick, but not too thick. Doesn’t obtrusively coat the mouth or throat. Good carbonation for a stout. I wouldn’t drink more than two pints before lightening it up a bit.

Crushed with Jakebra. Shit, thought this was a stout after I poured it. Lots of coffee and dark chocolate on the nose. Sure this isnt a stout? Flavor follows in a very nice way. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel. Dig it.

Motor oil with a 1/4 inch mocha head. This beer lives up to the definition of "DARK". Taste includes intense roasted elements (charcoal) along with black licorice and bitter chocolate. Have you ever allowed a marshmellow to ignite over an open campfire and let it smolder for 30 seconds or so...that is what comes through in this beer. Underlying sweetness but the burn is what dominates the palate. Good brew that I’d have again.

2008 Bottle - Pours dk brown, motor oil, decent brown head...aroma is brown sugar malt, oak and a bit of smoke...flavour blew me away, terrific balance of bitter/malt/alcohol...didn’t even know it was 10% until afterwards...my first taste of Pizza Port and set the bar unbearably high...
