Black pour, tan head. Aroma is roasty, sweet, chocolate. Flavor is sweet and sugary up front. Dark chocolate, mollasses, caramel sweetness and lots of anice and some raisens. Coffee in the aftertaste and still very sweet a little too much.

2006 bottle courtesy Ibrew2or3. Thanks Dave. Pours black with a one finger tan head that leaves good lacing. Aroma of dark fruit, roasted malt, alcohol, and chocolate. Taste is heavy chocolate roasted malt, coffee, dark fruit, and alcohol. Medium mouthfeel with a mild to moderate amount of bitterness and ver smooth alcohol. Very good.

Thanks to Naven for the bottle. . Pours near black with a medium head. Spare lacing. Aroma of dark roasted malts and coffee with some hop bitterness. Bourbon really comes through in the flavor, along with dark fruit and liquorice. More bitter that sweet. A bit hot. Bitter hops at the finish.

Pretty black pour with a tan head and lightly spotted lacing. Smell is roasted dark sugary malt and toffee. Flavor is nice and roasted and coffee filled. Bitter coffee hop finish. Not too heavy, a hint thinner than I expected but still nice. Very drinkable and enjoyable.

Very dark brown body, dense tan head with some staying power, chocolate and smoke in the nose. Smoky, chocolatey, with some bourbon notes and moderate bitterness. A contemplative beer.

22oz Bottle- Pours a pitch black color, small light tan head. When I say pitch black I mean it, we are talking motor oil here. Smelling this is delicious the myriad of chocolate notes comes out nicely and is simple yet effective. Drinking this reminds me of the best stouts around. Stout? Yes, this tastes like a huge imperial stout.
