| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jan 19, 2008 Very very dark brown to black with a healthy chocolate head thinning to smooth even film. If this isn’t a stout, then I just don’t know what a stout is! Big chocolatey roasty licorice nose smells a lot like Expedition. Perhaps a bit more of anise and chocolate. Less roast. Thicker; smooth, small even bubbles. Big aggressive flavor. Bigger roast. Bigger malt sweetness. Sticky aggressive piney hops. Anise is huge. This is a nasty big beer with long lingering roast. Quite a lovely big beer, in my opinon malrubius (1004), Valley Stream, New York, USA

I could have sworn it tasted like some type of imperial stout or something. The last person’s description sounds like what I had but still doesn’t sound like an american strong ale, unless you’re using an extreme poetic license. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
