Earthen chocolate and tinges of roastiness and dark sugar in the aroma. Roasted malt and coffee bean astringency up front. Ruddy earthen hops compliment tannic flavors and chocolate. Vestiges of residual bitterness in the finish with a faint smokiness and roastiness. Mouthfeel is fairly thick, somewhat chewy. ajm (965), Los Angeles, California, USA

I love this beer because I imagine many people hate it. Port refuses to identify the style, so get ready for an American Imperial Strong Storter. Heavy roast, coffee grounds with cocoa powder, light chile, and evident booze. And if you read the label and absorb the mechanical mood, you really will start tasting motor oil and metal shavings. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 28, 2007 Pours a very dark, opaque black with no head even off a pretty firm pour. Nose is heavy with alcohol.Very slight roasted tones to it. Flavor is extremely robust with a roasted quality to it that is deep and clings to the palate. Unfortunately, that drops off to a thinner flavor, though there is still a strong lasting aftertaste. Feel is low on carbonation and bordering on syrup like. Overall a pretty good beer. I only wish the initial flavor profile would hold out a lot longer. axilla (962), New Providence, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 5, 2007 Pours an opague black body with a good sized brown merangue-like head. The aroma is black cherries, raisins, and roasted malts. Flavor starts a bit sweet with cherries and raisins with some smoked peat present, followed with a huge shot of chocolate expresso. Very mild bourbon and oak in the finish. Thicker bodied than a lot of Imperial Stouts. Adenila (958), Denmark
| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 10, 2009 The cap accidently opened in a bike accident. 30 min later, when half the bottle had ran out, i sampled it at home. Very dark brown look with a minimal brown head (probably due to the accident) Great aroma! What struck me first was milky chocolate followed by salty liquirice, olives and alchohol. Flavor is close to something i’ve been looking for in awhile, whithout knowing exactly what it was. The beer flavors just explode, like english liquirice, then its mixed with toffee sweetness thats just awsome! Mild burned bitterness and a very warming alchohol. Glad i atleast managed to bring half a bottle safe home... stefanje (956), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA

Pours a very dark brown that absolutely no light will shine thru. I held a flashlight up to the glass, and nothing. Head is a rich tan and fades very slowly. Aroma is strong and rich with soy sauce, oranges, worcestershire, and burnt toast. Flavor is complex with coffee, chocolate, molasses, black licorice, walnuts, and toasted grains. Hops are well integrated and make a biter appearance only towards the finish. Mouthfeel is very creamy and smooth. Finish is long and gloroius. Overall this is a beer for the ages. nimbleprop (951), SouthWest, Washington, Washington DC, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Jun 2, 2008 Pours from the bomber a watery, nearly opaque black with brown edges with absolutely zero head. Looks like a flat glass of cola. Mild aroma of vanilla, molasses, oak, whiskey, coffee and dark brown sugar. Flavor has plenty of toasted, roasted malts, nuts, molasses, caramel, butterscotch, and coffee. Thick and buttery on the palate, with a delicious, nutty, roasted finish. Very drinkable despite the high alcohol. Smoother and more easily consumed than one would imagine.
