Bottle. Black with a thin beige head. Aromas are dark, strong coffee with liquorice. Peppery with molasses and some smokiness. Smells dark. Flavours are dark chocolate and roast coffee with some woody, peppery notes. Oily and rich on the palate. Slick, in a good way.

Bottle. Big thanks to bu11zeye for this nice bottle. Pours a very dark brown almost black color with a tan head. Roasted malty chocolate aroma with some hints of licorice. Sweet malty roasted licorice and chocolate flavor. Long warming malty bitter finish with some chocoalte hints.

Bottle from Capone’s, and I have one cellaring. Pours ebony with 1-finger, long lasting brown head. Aroma of dark malt, roasty chocoff, molasses, plum, slight blackberry. Tastes rich and roasty dark malty, with a huge opening dark chocolate flavor, coupled nicely by the malt bill, with some black licorice, molasses, bourbony, plum, and blackberry notes late. Gets a bit hot at the end, and retains a dense, complex mouthfeel throuhgout. This one is outstanding.

Cloudy dark red brown with a lasting off-white head. Aroma has caramel, toffee, chocolate and alcohol. Roasted flavour of chocolate and coffee, with extreme alcohol. The hop flavour and bitterness is extreme as well, and the finish is warming alcohol and burning hops.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark brown to black (almost opaque, flashlight tested), bottle conditioned. Aroma is moderately to heavily malty (roasted grain/nuts, dark chocolate/fudge, coffee, caramel), lightly hoppy (apricot, flowers), with notes of vanilla, alcohol, light notes of cassis/blackberry, wood, and dried mango. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium to full body, creamy/velvety texture, lively carbonation, moderately to heavily alcoholic. Had this on draught a few years ago and it wasn’t that great. This bottle-conditioned sample is absolutely lovely...not extremely complex, but really clean and enticing malt character. Very little bourbon, which is a good thing for me. Rich chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and hazelnut dominate the nose. Alcohol is a bit too aggressive, but that’s pretty much my only gripe. Quality stuff.

Dark, oily, molasses, kind of aroma. Reminiscent of Harviestoun Old Engine Oil. Nearly opaque brown/black color with a tan head that rapidly ringed. Medium to full bodied with creamy carbonation. The flavors are disparate, but the alcohol heat is noticeable. There is dark toasted malt, coffee, cocoa, molasses, really overripe dark fruit, mouth puckering, enough bitter to balance the sweetness, at least mostly balance. There might be some cherry notes. This stuff gets thicker as you drink it. The finish is like oiliness that adheres to the mouth. It really sticks with you at the end - mostly bitter with some molasses. Quite complicated. But burnt organics usually are. Mouthsmackingly good.

From a bomber that iowaherkeye shared at a tasting. This says Port brewing, but I assume it is the same beer. The body was black with a khaki colored head. The aroma was sweet toffee with some chocolate and pancakes. The taste was old coffee and some dark chocolate. There was also a note of burnt pancakes in the finish. This beer was a confusing mess and may benefit from aging, but I am not sure. Too hot for me.
