Nice well balanced brew with lingering dryness that usually gets steamrolled in most hoptastic stouts coming from the west coast. Take this any day. ross (1709), weddington, South Carolina, USA

So I went through seeing what I had received, and this one was in there. Without thinking twice, or thinking about sharing a bomber of this wonderful beer with people I know at a tasting or whatever, I popped the cap off of it. Pours out a dark brown color with a small like tan head that faintly appears on after the beer has poured. The smell is full of chocolate and some coffee. A touch of grass from the hops is noted as well. Taste is rich and thick, full of chocolate and coffee and hoppy flavors. Damn, a real challange to drink this bomber due to to thickness, but I was certianly up for the challange. Really really good stuff. I wish I could get about a case of this beer. A permanant addition to my want list. BBB63 (4253), La Porte, Indiana, USA

There is not much head but the beer coats the glassware with a VERY OILY UNFILTERED film hence the name of the brew methinks. The nose is very much in the traditional olde English Vintage Ales with a heavy oxidized character along with a plum cake aroma topped by non-aromatic pipe tobacco, sea salt, bakers chocolate, vanilla bean, fine Indian washed coffee, and just a wonderful finishing earthy, smoky and dusty ester...Oh heck yeah baby!!!
The taste is a tad hotter than I would wish but the nutty, olde hop, cellar and dusty nature of a fine olde ale shines though never the less. Fruity and round throughout with a tribute to those damn canned fruit cakes nobody wants for Christmas. In the end a strangely unique dry, chalky, and powered spice undertone leads the drinker off into a visions of flight of fantasy. The mouth feel is once again a reminder of the moniker, oily and heavy for sure, the thickness near 2004 Dark Lord weight...I really dig this brew and hope that aging will temper the hotness without making it taste "too old". I will take another for the cellar hence forth. ghawener (963), San Salvador, El Salvador

The beer was one for the ages this was one of the best brews I have ever had. Great stuff. I will buy this all the time. AWESOME!!!! Pailhead (2602), Allen Park, Michigan, USA

Chocolate, fresh roasted coffee and wood notes on the notes. Chocolatey , coffee nibs cake mixed with the lightest touch of bourbon. Creamy, full bodied mouth feel that seems to be the beer that drinks like a meal. Very long, hoppy and roasted finish. Damn nice beer, and in my mind, under appreciated.
