Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

22 ounce bottle from kmweaver
Very dark brown with some red hues. Smalllish brown head.
HUGE aroma! Roast and chocolate are apparent. I also find raisin, Reisin candy, pipe tobacco, smidge of pine. Fantastic!
The flavor is chocolate right up front, non specific hop flavors in the middle, and roasted bitterness in the end. Along with all this is pick out some smoke, dark cherry, and English Toffee. Damn this is a really good beer!
The body of this beer is quite substantial, yet easy to drink in quantity. The finish is surpisingly dry! As you can see, I really like this beer. I wish I had one of those slick vocabularies to give this wonderful beverage its just due. Thank you Tomme, and Ken.

Great beer. The smell is amazing. Almost similar to holiday coffee. Chocolate, coffee, and hazelnut all in the smell. Tastes great too. Very impressive and drinkable beer.

Whoa! This is a seriously good beer. Got the bottle at Sam’s in Chi a few months ago. Poured with a great tan head and some lace. Color is an opaque brown. Aroma is earthy, caramel, toffee, chocolate, a bit of yeast and a hint a hops. Flavs are all a that and more. This is a divine product. I have been blessed. Finish is great. Body is excellent with fine carbonation. Almost a session beer in spite of its obvious power. Pat, Kevin, Rick, Tim, an Roger give it their stamp of approval. Hosanahs.

I was a tad worried that after having Older Viscosity, I’d be disappointed with this one. Nope. What a great beer! Dark as night pour, this one could have passed for a stout. Chocolately, roasty, a touch of fruityness, some noticeable bourbon notes and a hint of vanilla. Just enough bitterness to balance out the hugely rich flavor profile. Velvety, PERFECT mouthfeel. I love it and I need me some more...NEED ME SOME MORE.

Pours a nice head that has retention. Smel is sweet with a light roasty tone. Tasted great, great balance of sweet dark flavors and roastiness. Smooth with a little burn, but not enough to cover up the great smoothness. Overall I found this to be a great beer, that’s well balanced and ful, FULL of grea flavors.

Enjoyed a sample of this one at Tasting in the Woods, Part Deux. Pours to a deep brown color, with a soapy head that fades and a soft carbonation. The nose on this beer is excellent, with lots of aromas of sweet malt, caramel, toffee, nuts, hints of cocca, and piney hops. The palate is rich and full on the tongue, with lots of good caramel, toasty, nutty/buttery malt flavors that glide over the tongue. This beer finishes with more of those complex and delicious malty flavors up front, then ends with some piney hop bitterness, and some peppery alcohol that linger. Very impressive old ale/strong ale. Really a fantastic showcase of big malt and hop flavors, on a strong beer. Great beer, from a great brewery.

Pours out black and thick, this beer has a small light brown head. Aroma is nice and sweet and chocolatey. The bourbon aroma is present and tingles the nose but is not overpowering at all. Coffee is nicely woven into the aroma mixing to be a sweet yet roasty experience. This is going to be something good. Wow, this tastes great! Ok first off there is a sweetness of chocolate deep, rich, and smooth. Then the slight kick of burbon add a whole new complex dynamic, this slowly blends into more of a coffee and roasted taste to round out the beer. The aftertaste is very roasty and warming. Damn, this is good. What an excellent beer my second from PIzza Port and this is just amazing. The alcohol is completley hidden and the mouthfeel is smooth and velvety. I can’t say more amazing things about this beer.

great aroma, changes over time... I get a slight sarsaparilla in the nose and more on the palate. Sarsaparilla and caramelized brown sugar, coffee, chocolate, Oakishness. It’s dark with hints of orange and red on the edge. Bitter finish, but well balanced. Nice sweetness. I really like this. The bitter finish prevents this from being perfect, for me.
