Commercial Description:
Definitely not your Dad's Wimpy 30 weight. An enormous & luscious dark ale that's as opaque and dark as the most well used motor oils.

Very dark with purple hues around the edges, not really any head - just a bit of caramelly foam around the edges and wisps in the middle. malt aroma with so e prune or light raisin in the nose with a little bit of a burn in the notrils at the end from the alcohol. The body is thick, lucious, and quite velvity. Soda like qualities are on the tip of my tougne at first sip. Sweet and well carbonated, but not bubbly. There is some vibrant, citrus chocolate in the begining mixed with some alcohol burn up front. The finish dries things out a bit with some burnt/roasted malts. It’s like an interesting barley wine mixed with a stout, but isn’t really either style. It’s quite good with some hops hidden in there, but not really providing much of a profile on their own.

Yet another rating way passed due. Cracked a bottle at the PP San Clemente establishment today....as usual...great stuff. ..big nose of choco-malts, roastiness, coffee notes--yum. Smooth mouthfeel...great caramel-toffee flavor...nice alcohol edge...great combo of strong ale and impy stout.

In short: A thick and tasty Imperial Stout calling itself something else. An orgy of roasted malt balanced by intense resinous hops. Fantastic
How: Bomber. About 6 months old.
The look: Black body with a small tan head.
In long: Nose of a bowl of molasses in a candy store. Fantastic body, syrupy yet silky. Thick caramel, molasses and chocolate cover a dense layer of roasted cereals. Roastiness level is medium relative to the style (unofficially imperial stout to me). Very chewy. More floury chocolate notes as it warms-up. A touch of smoke. A little red liquorice on the comeback. So far so good but where this beer goes from very good to excellence is in the hop department. Intensely hopped, very resinous and strong bitterness. What a tasty beer. You know Port Brewing is confident about this black beer to dare giving it a name like that. With that type of quality their beers will sell no matter what. I can’t wait for their Armpit Sweat pilsner.

The cap accidently opened in a bike accident. 30 min later, when half the bottle had ran out, i sampled it at home. Very dark brown look with a minimal brown head (probably due to the accident) Great aroma! What struck me first was milky chocolate followed by salty liquirice, olives and alchohol. Flavor is close to something i’ve been looking for in awhile, whithout knowing exactly what it was. The beer flavors just explode, like english liquirice, then its mixed with toffee sweetness thats just awsome! Mild burned bitterness and a very warming alchohol. Glad i atleast managed to bring half a bottle safe home...

Bottle Pours a good black with a dark tan head. The head is creamy and lasting. Produces very good lacing. Has a great aroma of caramel, toffee, chocolate, and coffee. Has a good carbonation and a wonderful mouthfeel. The flavor is great. Aperfect mix of hops and malts. Has a thick texture. A real good finish and an aftertaste that stays with you for what feels like days. This is an awesome beer that I have come to expect from Port Brewing. Very well done.

Pours pitch-black with a medium, creamy, beige-brown head. Aroma is roasted, vinious, bourbon, vanilla and wonderful sweet maltiness. Super creamy mouthfeel. Flavour is vinious, dry cocoa-powder, coffee, lightly roasted malts, bourbon, slight smoke and vanilla. Truly magnificent! Gimme more!

Bottle - Black body, thick light brown head; What an amazing nose, layer upon layer of perfect fine aromas emerge from the black deep, this is so amazing, sweet parts, dry parts, fruity parts and amazingly for its complexity it is perfectly balanced; The body is great too, soft, sharp, thin, full, big, elegant, salty, bitter, sweet and perfectly balanced; This is a black beer and it finishes perfectly black with big black aromas, smoothening out over a long long time. I dont know what more to say about this beer, I is incredibly good. Oh, if there is one very small flaw, the carbonation seems a very little to sharp or maybe it is the bitterness in the late finish that has the sharpness.

Pours dark brown to black, completely opaque and creates a beautiful, thick, coffee-colored head. Coffee malt aroma and rich, chocolaty malt flavors. Way full-bodied. Bitterness up front turning into rich bitter chocolate. A rich and delicious dessert.
