Rating 1500! Thanks to OSCF for sharing this one! This is a beer I have been wanting to try for quite sometime. Dark viscous pour with thick tan head and spotty lace. Aroma is a pleasant mixture of bourbon, vanilla, roast and light chocolate. Medium bodied, complex and well balanced! Oak, chocolate, vanilla, and a slight touch of coffee. Not much bourbon in the flavor profile, however that does not take away from this solid beer.

Thanks to Sparky27 for this gem! 2008 Bottle pours pitch black with tan head. Aroma is a mixture of oak, bourbon, and dark roasted malt. They are all blended together very well with not one characteristic dominating the other. Medium mouthfeel. Flavor is oak, vanilla, subtle bourbon notes, dark roasted malts, and finishes with a touch of hop spice. This is a fantastic brew. I know there has been a lot of criticism of this brewery lately for a variety of reasons and this brew is one of the best out there. Period.

2008 Vintage. Pours tight light tan head, about 1cm thick. Serious sludge in bottom of bottle. Guess that’s from sitting in my beer fridge for a long time. Aroma has a wonderful bourbon quality to it unlike the "standard" Old Viscosity which has mostly aromas of malt. Flavor is also loaded with all sorts of bourbon goodness.Pronounced vanilla character. Perhaps a slight bubblegum character too? Very smooth tasting. Nice warm feeling after a few minutes.

2008 Vintage. Thanks BDR! Black color with a large head. Large, rich grain aroma, like the grains are still mashing in my glass. Light oak as well. Dry chocolate taste up front. Oak, vanilla, barley, grain and dark fruits all fill out the rest of it. Finishes dry and a little dusty. Bourbon is not overwhelming at all. Delicious.

Bottle: Dark brown pour with a large, thick and creamy brown head. Rich and silky aroma of bourbon and chocolate. Malty and light roast. Delectable! Flavor is a deep, rich maltiness with a hefty amount of roast and coffee. Plenty of chocolate coming through and the bourbon barrel plays a nice complimentary role. Very thick and rich. Simply an amazing and excellent brew.

2008 bottle. Cork popped out easily - no lack of carbonation here. Poured back with a big tan head. Lots of lace. Aroma of oak, bourbon, chocolate, dark fruit, alcohol. Taste is also heavy bourbon, with plenty of roasted malt, some fruit. Light alcohol burn in the finish. Very nice beer. Full mouth with plenty of carbonation. Overall, a very enjoyable brew.

375 mL bottle, 2008 version, sampled March 2009: black with rusted-gold highlights at the edges...large brown, tight bubbled foam. Cherry & oak aromatics cover some lactic sweetness and earthy undertones. Extremely mild bourbon barrel aging...only a subtle hint of alcohol sweetness...strong roasted malts cover the whiskey flavours that all too often over power beer aged is spent casks. Completely understated alcohol. Match-stick bitterness and dusty chocolate are welcomed flavours that linger. The palate is slightly thin, though creamy. A wonderful beer to sit with on what I hope is one of the last cold days of the winter.

375ml purchased from the brewery. What else can you say about Tomme Aurthur and Port/ Lost Abbey...... Pours a midnight black with a big chocolaty head. Nose was a perfect blend of bourbon, vanilla, oak, and a touch of coffee, chocolate, and some dark fruits. Smooth vanilla on the palate with bourbon and oak on the finish. I.....need.......more......of....this!!
