Thanks to rustychiles for sharing at the bockyhorsey fiasco. Pours jet black with no head. Aroma is of heavy bourbon, coconut, and some light oak and roast. At this point I was sort of dreading the taste, being somewhat of a hater of bourbon beers. Taste is quite buttery (diacetyl or possibly from oxidation during extended barrel aging I would guess), smooth bourbon, smooth alcohol, and some nice coconut hints. As thick as a beer could possibly come. Comes off as somewhat one-dimensional, but not necessarily in a bad way. It showcases what it has really well. This was quite a surprise and would be quite enjoyable on a really cold night to share with friends.

Lots of vanilla and bourbon and oak and roastiness and chocolate, and overall goodness. :)

Wow, is this a finely conditioned beer, with a spectacular body! Incredible grayish brown colored head atop a solid body, very dark, nearly black. The aroma is incredible, with coffee, raisin, bourbon, milk. The body is thicker than most beers, it seems, and I don’t usually call a beer’s body thick. Bourbon is well-melded with an outrageously huge sweet candied flavor, with a touch of milky mocha. Tomme does sweet well, to my taste - complex. Lovely.

pours very dark brown nearly black with porter-like ruby brown at the edges and no head whatsoever. lots of bourbon-y sweetness in the nose along with molasses, brown sugar, cocoa, vanilla/oak and something menthol/minty/sinus numbing near the end of the sniff... perhaps hops? probably alcohol? either way it is odd. the palate, as i feared, is far too sweet... flavors of molasses, bourbon and it’s spice, brown sugar, malt powder, roasted coffee, chocolate and vanilla with a dry, bitter and nearly ashy finish. full bodied from the sheer volume of residual sugar. thick syrupy and rather brutish mouth feel. there’s a perfectly fine beer hiding in there under that sweetened blanket...8/5/5/3/15/3.6

i had a chance to try this on tap at papago... creamier across the palate and much more balanced. the sharp boozy notes fade in to coffee and roast... the bourbon still dominates but it is softer and much more pleasant. 8/5/7/4/15/3.9

On tap at Lost Abbey. Pours a dark chestnut brown/black with brown head. Chocolate, bourbon, vanilla, oak, roasted malt, smoke, and hints of dark fruit. Thick mouth feel. Not surprisingly, very nicely done.

Bottle from ygtbsm94. Man what a beer. Holy shit. black pour wtih a small brown head. Aroma is so luscious...bourbon, chocolate, molasses, brown sugar, vanilla, oak and heaven. Flavor is full and bad ass. bourbon notes hit but do not overpower. Chocoolate, molasses, vanilla and oak follow. Damn this is just a near perfect beer.

Taster, on tap at Lost Abbey. Pours black with a mocha head. The aroma screams of barrel aged goodness, buttery vanilla, oak, bourbon, and roasty chocolate. Flavor is more of the same, and pretty sweet but not cloying. It’s just thick and buttery and rich and pretty much just how I like my big barrel aged beers. The only issue is that it doesn’t seem to finish as strong as it starts, seems like the flavors kind of fall off. Better than the OLD Viscosity.

Like a mouthful of charred wood. Aroma of smoke and alcohol. Appearance is black as night with a tan head at pour which disappears quickly. Flavor is rich, smoky, and charred. Lots of wood, chocolate and coffee. Coating mouthfeel.
