| 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 3/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 15, 2009 Bottle from Beermerchants.com. Pours black with just a few bubbles on top. The aroma is godly whisky, caramel, vanilla, chocolate and coconut. The flavours intensify the aromas with slightly more emphasis on coconut and vanilla. Oily and smooth, soft as velvet. Deep, complex and oily- a wonderful balsam. nickd717 (1344), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 13, 2009 Once at GABF 2009 then again at the Lost Abbey Barrel Tasting. Pours dark brown from the carafe, slightly translucent if you hold it up to the light, with a foamy tan head. Aroma is bourbon, roast, caramel, and vanilla. Flavor is complex and excellent with roast, chocolate, vanilla, caramel, toffee, fig, raisin, and of course bourbon. A little boozy, but damn it, I like it. Viscous on the palate (who would have guessed?) with low carbonation and a slick, syrupy mouthfeel. Amazing beer. altonbrownd (1898), Amsterdam, Netherlands

| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Nov 7, 2009 Updated: Nov 15, 2009Bottled at home. Opaque black, no head whatsoever. Super complex nose, malts, caramel, dark fruit, liquorice, liquor and much more. Complex flavor as well, pretty sweet but the flavor is developing during every sip, bitter and alcoholic, but also malts, coffee, liquorice and some wood-notes. This stuff is extremely good. Thanks you caesar for suggesting to buy this, i just can’t get enough of this. ChrisThomson (394), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours black with zero head and almost no carbonation. Had it head to head with Yule Smith, and I preferred the Yule Smith. Very complex and interesting beer. Aroma very boozy, whisky notes, smokey. Mouthfeel is boozy, syrupy. Taste is bourbon, oaky, vanilla, coffee and nice licorice finish.
