12.7 Oz. Caged/Corked Thanks goes out to Bitterbill for this brew. Poured in a chalice a thick black color, not much of a head just some fizzy creamy tan head, awesome carbonation (nice loud POP on cork), there are some oil slicks and very minimal sticky lacing around the edges. The nose is very nice of sweet malts, vanilla, bourbon oak, black licorice, chocolate/toffee/caramel. The taste is awesome of roasted malts, bourbon bang, vanilla, and toffee/caramel. Alcohol is hidden very well, but a nice warm feeling in the throat, very nice for a brew this high in ABV. Full/Medium body, well balanced brew. Very drinkable, very nice to the style, thumbs up Port Brewing/Lost Abbey. If you can get your hands on some, do it. This is very different than the Old Viscosity, highly recommended. Thanks Bill.

9/17/08 - graciously shared by Naka with the Exec Board. Pours black and sackcloth with fizzy, chocolate head, dissipating to a rimming film rather quickly. Nose is raisin, fig, dates, chocolate and hop bitterness. Taste is chocolate and roast with oaky bourbon notes and lots of alcohol heat and flavor. Fantastic mouth feel. Slightly nutty and caramel with moderate bitter. Freakin’ Fantastic. Thanks, Naka.

Shared with the exec board. Pours BLACK with a small dark beige head that lasts only for a couple seconds. The aroma is strong coffee, bitter chocolate, some butterscotch, caramel, and a very faint hint of the bourbon. The flavor has a pretty strong alcohol, but it is still very well balanced. Raisins and caramel with syrupy chocolate and lots of bourbon. Rich and creamy body. I’d love to get my hands on some more of this.

Strong oak and bourbon aroma with touches of vanilla and dark malty sweetness. Dark black pour with a thin lasting tan head. Big flavors of oak, bourbon, vanilla, roast, dark malts, alcohol. Alcohol is very noticeable, but adds to the beer in a way that sometimes detracts from others - if that makes sense. Dry oaky finish.

Bottle: Sweet aroma of bourbon, chocolate, licorice, alcohol, vanilla, oak, and dark fruits. Poured black in color with a small tan head. Opaque. Medium sweet flavor. Tastes of bourbon, oak, chocolate, coffee, licorice, alcohol, roasted malts, and coffee. Full body. Thick, viscous texture. Soft to average carbonation. Bourbon, chocolate, semi-dry finish.
