Aroma is sweet bourbon with strong malty fruit notes, dark fruit amd cherry barrelness. Bourbon fruit flavor with sweet plum, very barrel forward. Medium, syrupy body. I can dig it, but its a little unbalanced. Thanks Andrew. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

Nose shows some nice fruits that in the wrong hands could make it taste like cough syrup, but not here. Instead, some nice plums and currants. A little roastiness that tends it toward a stout. A great warmer of a beer. Maria (6207), Thisted, Denmark
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 27, 2008 Thank you After4ever/Tom for this fantastic beer! it’s pitch black with a delicious, creamy and lasting head. The aroma is vinous with notes of oak, vanilla, licorice and coffee. The mouthfeel is oily. The flavour is complex with notes of bourbon cask, vanilla, roasted malt, dark fruit, licorice, coffee, a bit of chocolate, preserved figs, and even if it’s incredibly full-bodied it’s also very smooth and harmonic. It’s really nice indeed! desurfer (1067), Pinellas Park, Florida, USA

The flavor is loaded with sweetness and bitter hops, as well as a mild oakiness. The high alcohol content is not very noticeable. Good stuff. malrubius (987), Valley Stream, New York, USA

Yikes, thanks for this treat, Tony. Pours pitch black as expected. Good head on this one. Lots and lots of lacing. Aroma is big, and port-like. Fitting that it’s from Port Brewing. Caramel and bourbon work together like a dynamic duo. Raisin and licorice thrown in for good measure. Flavor is big and roasted. Caramel, and some slippery vanilla. Some hefty chocolate notes in there, too. Not sure how to classify this exactly...but it’s delicious. Very soft body, making this incredibly drinkable. Very bright, too. Really enjoyed this one. jazz88 (2236), San Francisco, California, USA

A wonderfully rich aroma with dark fruits, vanilla, and cherry. Full bodied and creamy with a warming alcohol presence. The bourbon barrels don’t overwhelm the flavor. A nice bite at the finish.
