Tap, at The Publican. Pour is total blackness with a very thin/ non-existent brown head. Aroma is simply wonderful: roasted malt, dark fruits, plum, light spiciness, coconut, vanilla, wood, bourbon, and very light alcohol. it smells way too good! Flavor is vanilla, fruit, wood, light bourbon, very creamy chocolate, smooth coffee, and a lightly peppery/ alcohol finish. Just amazing.

Overall:Wasn’t disappointed. Great sipping beer.

Bottled. Almost black coloured. Fluffy light brown head. Aroma of chocolate, vanilla, ripe fruits and some dryness. Flavour is full of chocolate and spice. Bourbon barrel definately notable. Coffee, caramel and a somewhat syrupy touch as well. Medium to full bodied. Dry sweet and spiced finish. Has a light bitter touch and a light alcholbite on palate and lips. ABV almost not notable.

Poured thick and viscous out of the bottle. The color was almost black with brown highlights sneaking out. A short ring of brown foam appeared. No lacing to speak of. The aroma was boozy, chocolate, malts and some vanilla. The flavor was chocolate, bourbon and vanilla with a bit of a hop bite towards the end. Full bodied mouthfeel. A sipper. Great beer, but I’m glad I shared the bottle as I think drinking this on my own would have been a tad laborious.

’06 vintage on draft at Resurrection Alehouse. Pours jet black, very little mocha head. Aroma is dominated by bourbon, with only hints of caramel and chocolate coming though. Taste is very boozy, with a rich chocolate and coffee finish. While you could still taste the alcohol, this was strangely incredibly smooth. I had to spread this out over the whole meal as it wasn’t all that drinkable. As much as I love Old Viscosity, this didn’t quite do it for me, and I may be in the minority in saying that Old Vis is better.

Dark brown with no head. Aroma is heavy woody bourbon, vanilla, molasses, alcohol, cheap chocolate and light caramell. Body is "viscous" and slimey with extremely low carbonation (which I belive works ok for this kind of brew.) Flavour is similar to aroma but more concentrated and hot with a rather lovely strong bourbon finish with perfectly intergrated warming alcohol.

sample from the pitcher at GABF on 9/26/09... pours a light black with a little tan head... big strong bourbon nose... very smooth medium body with notes of coffee, vanilla and more bourbon... excellent strong and smooth finish... I really want a bottle of this stuff.

On tap (Sept 26th). Pours dark brown with a medium tan head, some lacing. Strong sweet bourbon aroma and molasses. Full body, rich, hot and velvety. Bourbon, chocolate, and coffee flavors, almost cloyingly sweet, with a mild earthy dry finish.
