Bottled, shared by Menno. Pitch black color, short head. Aroma is heavy of roasted malt, coffee, chocolat, alcohol, liquor, some cask notes, bit vinous. Strong taste, big malted, bourbon, oak, hint of vanilla, slight alcoholic. Lovely brew, but it’s 2 much to drink for a starter :-)

On tap this beer has too much to talk about. this beer needs your time and your undivided attention. coffee, dark chocolate, smoke, OAK, fig, whiskey, toasted grain, OAK changes and grows and changes some more. We laughed and cried. Only thing keeping it from a 5 was the slightly out of balance oak.

Pours black, little to no carbonation and it didn’t need it. Nose is HUGE bourbon, big roasted malt, dark fruits, raisin, leather, vanilla, wood and cocoa. Flavor is sweet bourbon, roasted grain, slight smoke, vanilla, fig, big oak. Bad ass beer.

Smells and looks like a SA triple bock bit is much better in terms of flavor and the smoothness. Lots of soy and chocolate and bourbon. 08 bottle so it actually had some carbonation instead of being flat.

08 bottle via trade w/bman1113vr. Pours thick and black with a thick dark tan head. Huge aroma, lots of bourbon, vanilla and chocolate malt bursting all over the place. Thick silky smooth body with more of the chocolate malt vanilla bourbon in the flavor. Just a good thick chewy good beer.

Bottle thanks to bman1113vr. Nose is soy, vanilla, dark toast barrel, roasted nuts, dark chocolate, bourbon, syrup. Taste is the soy sauce, vanilla, bitter dark chocolate, burnt oak. Nice sticky mouthfeel and medium long finish. Very good for Asa. Pours a dark mahoganey color that is almost opaque body and minute beige head.

12.7 oz bottle. 09 version.Pours dark brown/black ( like motor oil) With No head. Dark Brown ring tried to form, but was to flat.No carbonation Aroma was a nice and smokey with dark fruit, oak, vanilla .Flavor is dark chocolate, bourbon, roasted malts, with a slight sour. Has a nice and smooth alcohol burn. seems very thick, but taste a bit watery. Not worth the 16.99.

Rating #700! 2008 bottle from Zathrus13- Thanks! Pours black with an inch high tan milkshake head. initial aroma is dark fruits, dates, figs, bourbon, dark chocolate, vanilla, and peat. Inviting, to say the least. Flavor is roasted malts, dark chocolate, throat warming alc (in a good way), bourbon, cream. Less viscous than i expected. Booze is a great compliment, never hot or overpowering. I’m really enjoying this. a nice silky smooth balance of dark chocolate, dark fruit, and bourbon. Curious to see how this 2009 bottle from wavers1 turns out... But this was Awesome. Great job Port Brewing.
