375 ml bottle. 2007 vintage. Dark black pour. Thin, light brown head. Aroma of bourbon, vanilla, bitter chocolate. Sweetness has mellowed nicely. Bourbon notes really come through and compliments the dark chocolate notes. Warming alcohol at the finish. Creamy, smooth mouthfeel. What an amazing beer!

FoBAB 2008. Poured an opaque black color. The head was light brown with an orange tint. Smelled of chocolate, subdued anise, vanilla, bourbon, and a dash of cocoa. Medium to full bodied and slightly sweet. The flavors followed the aromas pretty closely; bourbon, toffee, a hint of anise, and vanilla. Good stuff.

Bottle. Black beer with reddish highlights and a tan head. Bourbon and caramel malt aroma. Bourbon and toffee flavor with malt and vanilla. Fuller bodied. Bourbon and toffee lingers with a light roastiness.

Bottle, compliments of vAc. Pours a dark coppery brown with an very thin off-white head. The smell is full of sweet butter pecan toffee and thick heavy smoke. Maybe a hint of tobacco layered in with the oak and smokey notes. From the smell I expected a much more powerful or jarring sensation on the palate but the body is extremely smooth and silky, with just the slightest alcohol soak. The flavor bursts with toffee, dark fruit and, of course, a strong oaky bourbon taste. Really a treat.
