Super complex nose, malts, caramel, dark fruit, liquorice, liquor and much more. Complex flavor as well, pretty sweet but the flavor is developing during every sip, bitter and alcoholic, but also malts, coffee, liquorice and some wood-notes. This stuff is extremely good. Thanks you caesar for suggesting to buy this, i just can’t get enough of this. eaglefan538 (2360), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 4.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 20/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Bottle from JohnC. Pour was pitch black-brown, even a little choco colored thin head on the top that fizzled quickly but left behind a nice ring, regenerable with a swirl, active carbonation in the mouthfeel later. The aroma was oaky wood, chocolate, maple, bourbon. The flavor was all of that, some molasses and licorice under there, just a wonderful BA brew, the best one I’ve had in a while, beer was actually there. Mouthfeel had a nice tingle from the carbonation and alcohol, yet this thing was a beer. Man, that finish was outstanding, perfect highlight to the whole experience. Great stuff, and thanks to John for this one! Top 50, no doubt. bfeldmann (1042), Wilmington, Delaware, USA

| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Thanks to eaglefan538 for this wonderful brew! The pour was a beautiful dark brown with just a little head and some mild lacing clinging to the glass on a swirl. The aroma was out of this world incredible with bourbon, vanilla, cocoa screaming at you and some maple...probably the best smelling beer I’ve ever encountered. The flavor followed suit, incredibly complex, rich and creamy, perfectly complemented by the bourbon, better than any bourbon aged beer yet. The mouthfeel was perfect as well...the carbonation level was perfect and this baby just coated your mouth and stayed there. Excellent. I might have enjoyed the Cuvee de Tomme just a LITTLE bit more, but other than that, I’d be hard pressed to name a better beer. GaltScat (195), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 4.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 10/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Apr 24, 2007 Wow! I let this age several months which might have affected the experience. Dark pour like motor oil with a small tan head. Aroma of oak, chocolate, malt, bourbon. Flavor was magnificent with oak, bourbon, chocolate, malt, honey. The finish was smooth yet tingly from the alcohol. Sephiroth (66), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA

From notes: Pours completely still, and of course is completely black. It is not, however, as black as some other big stouts out there. Smells chocolatey, with vanilla and bourbon coming through loud and clear. Alcohol is noticeable.
This beer tastes as good as any BA stout. The bourbon barrel flavor would be too much in another beer, but this one has a vast richness of other flavors as well. Lots of chocolate. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and coating. Truly one of the GOAT.
