Black with a thin brown head. Roasty chocolate and mint aroma with some spicy hops and a musty note. Huge body, huge alcohol presence. Tasty chocolate and roast flavor with licorice, cola, coconut (?), vanilla. Low bitterness for the strength. Fairly complex and tasty but too alcoholic.

Bottled. A black beer with barely any head contrary to my expectations and wishes. Actually looks a bit flat. Aroma has some citrussy hops together with a hint of sourness. Chocolate and cold coffee in the mouth. Fruity and lacking roasted malt flavours. Sticky oily texture yet a short finish. There are some really good bits to this beer but sufficiently enough poor letdowns to be a bit of a disappointment.

2008. Opened on Christmas Eve with my Dad. Pours a think opaque black, it’s filled with milk and dark chocolate, nuts. Big flavour, roasty, bitter coffee, dark chocolate, full-bodied, lots of flavour.

On tap at Nimbus brewery. Pours thick black with dark tan head, and aroma is full of caramel and chocolate malt. Taste starts a bit hoppy and moves into coffee and chocolate malt, with a nice bittering finish. Terrific impy stout!

Pours almost pitch black with no head. Aroma is of coffee, chocolat, licorice and spice. Flavor is quite bitter, with lots of coffee. Quite dry as well. Decent long bitter finish with coffee and licorice present. Low carbonation.

Opaque black with minimal head. Aroma is roast and dark fruits. Heavy roast character in taste with vanilla and booze into the finish. $5/10oz

Poured black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, and cherry fruitiness primarily. Has a rich toasted flavor and is very complex. Flavors that presented themselves included chocolate, coffee, cherry, vanilla, toffee-ish sweetness, nuttiness, and a nice bitter bite to finish it at the end. Had a nice silky mouthfeel. Really liked this one.

Bottle from beermerchants.com. Pours black with a reddish sheen, head vanishes quickly. Carbonation is soft. Aromas of coffee, chocolate, roasted malts, dark fruits, some caramel. Flavours of dark chocolate, cinammon, butterscotch, licorice, plum pudding, molasses. Warming alcohol mouthfeel. Malts and a light bitterness in the finish.

Poured from 22 oz., dark brown with medium tan head. Aromas of chocolate and sweet malt and raisins. Very smooth taste which hides the 10%, a bit bitter, not overly sweet. Medium bodied, excellent mouthfeel, and overall very good Impy stout.
