Roasty chocolate and mint aroma with some spicy hops and a musty note. Huge body, huge alcohol presence. Tasty chocolate and roast flavor with licorice, cola, coconut (?), vanilla. Low bitterness for the strength. Fairly complex and tasty but too alcoholic.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2009 Bottled. A black beer with barely any head contrary to my expectations and wishes. Actually looks a bit flat. Aroma has some citrussy hops together with a hint of sourness. Chocolate and cold coffee in the mouth. Fruity and lacking roasted malt flavours. Sticky oily texture yet a short finish. There are some really good bits to this beer but sufficiently enough poor letdowns to be a bit of a disappointment. markdredge (5), Kent, England does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 30, 2009 2008. Opened on Christmas Eve with my Dad. Pours a think opaque black, it’s filled with milk and dark chocolate, nuts. Big flavour, roasty, bitter coffee, dark chocolate, full-bodied, lots of flavour. arminjewell (166), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 27, 2009 Poured black with a moderate tan head. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla, and cherry fruitiness primarily. Has a rich toasted flavor and is very complex. Flavors that presented themselves included chocolate, coffee, cherry, vanilla, toffee-ish sweetness, nuttiness, and a nice bitter bite to finish it at the end. Had a nice silky mouthfeel. Really liked this one. planky84 (149), , Greater London, England
