Merritt Island Throwdown ’08: Bottle, courtesy Beershine/Oakes. Pours a dark golden amber, with fizzy lacing, and a nice wet head. Grapefruit and typical array of hops spatter the nose, with vanilla and citrus. Hoppy flavor, kind thick. Grapefruit and citrus, of course. Balanced; not a real hop monster. Drinkable and refreshing.

Clear orange pour with white head. Aroma of sweet citrus and some pine. Taste of hops and hops only. Citrus is again present in the taste. Finish is dry and not very bitter. Mouthfeel is moderately carbonated Hops are pretty underwhelming for a beer that only features hops. Needless to say a little weak overall, but not terrible.

(Draught) Sampled at Peaks Brewpub in Port Angeles on February 22, 2008. Golden, mild carbonation with a thin, white head. Good orange nose. Great flavour, bitter, orange with a good malt balance.

Cloudy light orange/pale body with a medium sized white head. The nose is heavy with green apple, some tangerine and pithy orange. The flavor is lightly sweet, moderately bitter with grapefruit, orange peel, apricot and light cotton candy. Medium body is a bit rough with moderate carbonation.

Aroma – Nice IPA aroma. Malt and subtle spices.
Appearance – Amber color, Nice head and very hazy and tons of sediment.
Flavor – This has a medium IPA flavor. The Hops where very weak and the malt was very thick. Too much sediment in this beer.
Palate – Weak Mouthfeel, lots of sediment in this finish. Ewwwww
Overall – The beer has a good flavor but the extra sediment in this beer was too much and it gave off a bad taste and Mouthfeel. .

Cloudy orange, thin beige head. Very piney, woodsy aroma. It’s a little on the thin side, which I actually like sometimes in a IPA. Hops completely overwhelm any malt characteristics, so it comes across as very bitter, very dry, almost astringent.
