Commercial Description:
An array of brown, roasted, and biscuit malts create this rich and malty ale. An extended two hour boil develops caramelized flavors as well as its dark color. A small addition of peat smoked barley adds a slight smoky flavor.

Sampled at the brewery in Port Townsend, WA--Poured a rich brown-amber body with a small fluffy off-white head. Roasty, toasty, toffee, coffee, Smokey nose. Sweet, creamy mouthfeel. Finished clean with mild lingering smokiness.

22-oz bottle from 99 Bottles in Federal Way, Wash. Roasty flavors of toffee, coffee, barley, and peat. Sweet and sticky heavy alcohol notes lean toward whiskey and Kahlua. Hints of molasses and dark chocolate. Smooth and tasty. An easy drinker.

On cask. Looked like the picture to the left except mine had a great fluffy head from the cask. Aroma of sweeter dark malts, chocolate, caramel, with nice mild smoke accompanying everything. Flavor is a mix of sweet and smokey. A nice malty scotch ale. I liked the way the smoke balanced off the sweetness. Creamy and incredibly smooth.

22oz Bomber - Gravity Beer Market - Olympia, WA
Aroma – Nice light smoked peet with a dark malt aroma.
Appearance – Dark brown in color, Nice head and clear.
Flavor – A good smoked malty flavor had some good use of hops and the overall flavor was very good. A tad watery also. Must be a bottling issue.
Palate – Nice Mouthfeel, good texture with a dry finish.
Overall – This was a very ice Scotch ale. Liked the flavors the smokiness was very nice.

this is one of my favorite beers overall. had it on tap at brewery and it blew me away that it was not as sweet or sour as your typical scotch. I really like there reel amber but I think this one is best of brewery.

I really like this - not as heavily malted or sweet as most Scotch styles. Handsome in a glass, tasty, subdued. Nice.

Thin beige head, quickly and mostly diminishing. The body is a hazy, shadowy red and brown mishmash. The pour appears thin and forced. The nose bristles with peated malt and unmilled grains. Other aromas include smoke, coffee grounds, caramel, oats, dark spices, roast, licorice, burned cookie dough and molasses. Hints of fruit subdue further an already diminutive alcohol profile. The flavor is earthy and lacking depth or any enjoyable additions to a style overcrowded with unworthy competitors. It isn’t bad, it just doesn’t offer anything worthy of rememberance. Additions to the picture now include wet wood and mossy earthiness. Sweetness is medium-high, bitterness low-medium and crowded into the far end of the taste by lots of toasty malts. Smoke and peat slowly build momentum as they gather in pockets in the corners of the mouth with each ensuing sip. The finish is lightly spicy, semi-sweet and watery as it fades quickly to a peppery finale. The mouthfeel is drowning in watery pockets, is light-medium bodied and lacking a creamy carbonation or texture. Dissapointing but certainly drinkable despite the many flaws attention is drawn to.

Thanks again Boboski. Pours a deep brown color, with some red highlights shining around the edges. Aroma is peaty and warming, with the malts coming on strong. Oddly, I seem to be picking up hints of Cheerios, I love Cheerios. Slight toastiness as well, bring it all together. Flavor is smoky and rich, with a slight bitterness, closing this beer out. Some slight coffee flavors, maybe even a slight woodiness. very nice beer.
