Commercial Description:
An array of brown, roasted, and biscuit malts create this rich and malty ale. An extended two hour boil develops caramelized flavors as well as its dark color. A small addition of peat smoked barley adds a slight smoky flavor.

This Scotch Ale pours a deep amber color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized whitish foamy head. Aroma is dark fruit, caramel, some wood, some smoke and some vanilla. A medium bodied Scotch Ale. Malts are caramel, dark fruit with some oak and smoke. Touch of maple and vanilla. Nice malt profile. Tends a little towards a porter but it has an interesting hop presence in the background. Mouthfeel may be a little thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet and smoky. Nice beer.

On tap at the Brewery. A nice little session room by the way, reminded me a bit of Germany. Tastey liitle scotch, malty, caramel. Just barely see through golden brown. Sets good on the tounge, not a huge mouth feel, but big enough, and not so sticky. Not as good as Fat Bastard, but a respectible scotch ale.

Draught. Pours dark brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet and malty, mainly caramel and toffee, with an unexpected bit of hops in the background and a little dark fruit. Flavor starts out as a nearly equal mixture of caramel malts and hops, moving to a very malty long finish, with chocolate/coffee flavors and general roastiness prominent. Clean on the palate---much less sticky than the aroma would suggest. Towards the porter-like end of the scotch ale spectrum. I like it quite a bit.

Bomber, courtesy BitBucket. Pours murky brown with some off-white head. Sweet malts on the nose, smells stickier than it is. Fairly clean medium body with some bubbly mouthfeel. The mid-palate’s a bit suffocated with cloying molasses and butterscotch. Clean finish, solid beer. Their best I’ve had, but unfortunately not memorable.

Bomber purchased directly from the brewer. Pours a hazy reddish dark amber with a lacy off-white head. Aroma of citrus, caramel. Body is creamy full with soft carbonation. Taste is toffee sweet with some dried fruit and smoke. Clean finish. Probably the best trick in the PT Brewing bag.

Bown with a thin white head. Slightly maltier and hoppier than the amber and pale ales from the brewer. Aftertaste drops the hop and becomes very malty with a slight yeast kick that didn’t bother me too much.

22 oz bottle. Deep brown in color with a nice head. Roasty malty aroma. Roasty and malty flavor. Caramel chocolately notes. Sweet tasting. Finish is roasty. Decent beer. Doesn’t taste like a scotch ale though. More like a porter. Drinkable.
