Commercial Description:
An array of brown, roasted, and biscuit malts create this rich and malty ale. An extended two hour boil develops caramelized flavors as well as its dark color. A small addition of peat smoked barley adds a slight smoky flavor.

Amber-chestnut colour...quite cloudy. Caramelly, earthy aroma. Full body. Lots of malt - mainly earth, smoke, then a bit of caramel. Long, sweet, smokey malt finish.

Bottle… October ‘09 O-Town Throwdown!… Mostly clear, burnt orange ale with a small, fat-bubbled, off-white head. The nose offers fragrances of toasted cashews and almonds, caramel and leather. Full-bodied with a buttery mouthfeel and modest carbonation. Sweet, nutty and a touch acidic. Lengthy, lightly sweet, mildly tangy finish.

Draft. Dark brown and burgundy colored. Creamy tan head. Scotch and maple pancake syrup, with some actual pancake aromas and flavors as well. Creamy up front, but then harsh smoke flavored on the back, much like a rauchbier. Pasty texture, weird I would call it. Not the best example of a scotch ale.

Muddy mahogany color with decent off-white head. The nose is sweet with dark caramel and bourbon soaked oak, light vanilla and a touch of diacetyl; lightly smoky. The flavor is chewy and clean with a nice malt profile that really takes a bit of time for my palate to absorb. Finishes medium bodied, toasty and a bit of alcohol feel. Good Scotch ale, a bit more IBUs than I like but it was still sweet enough in the initial flavor to be thoroughly enjoyable.

This Scotch Ale pours a deep amber color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized whitish foamy head. Aroma is dark fruit, caramel, some wood, some smoke and some vanilla. A medium bodied Scotch Ale. Malts are caramel, dark fruit with some oak and smoke. Touch of maple and vanilla. Nice malt profile. Tends a little towards a porter but it has an interesting hop presence in the background. Mouthfeel may be a little thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is sweet and smoky. Nice beer.

22 oz bottle (but doen’t say Peeping Peter). Anyway, pours very dark red with a small head. Aroma is mild coffee. Taste has a light sweetness but is mostly roasty. If you didnt know better, you’d think it’s a porter. Somewhat sweet and hardly hoppy. Not bad but could use some more peat flavor and less roastiness.

Had on tap at the Downrigger in Port Angeles, Wa. Pleasant dark amber appearance with an off-white sticky head with light lacing. Has a bit of a Christmas spice aroma. Good stick to your ribs flavor - slightly spicy with a bit of hoppy trailing bitterness. Good, thick mouthfeel. First impression is that it is a bit phenolic - but it mellows as it warms.
