Commercial Description:
Flavors of dark chocolate and roasted malts are complemented by generous quantities of Northwest hops to give this dry stout an assertive but balanced profile. A traditional yeast strain lends further complexity to this rich dark brew.

Nice cocoa aroma with hints of black olives. Flavor: this has some bugs in it - probably lacto - quite lemony tart. Really unfortunate, as the nose had some promise.

Bottle 1pt. 6fl.oz.
Clear dark brown color with a huge, frothy - creamy, good lacing, fully lasting, light beige head. Aroma is light heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, light licorice, vanilla and tobacco notes. Flavor is moderate to heavy chocolate sweet and chocolate - coffee bean bitter with a long duration. Body is medium, texture is smooth and oily, carbonation is soft. [20090621]

22oz bottle. Poured a medium to deeper brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of burnt malts, roasty, some chocolate, and a little earthy. Tastes of the same roastiness, lighter coffee, earthy, and chocolate. I would say the roastiness and burnt quality dominate.

Bottled. Very deep ambery brown colour with huge creamy beige head. Aroma is chocoalte, coffee, roasted malts and very big nuttyness as well. Big caramel and toffee as well. Also some dry fruits and vanilla. Very bigtime complex aroma that changes with temperature. Flavoour tobacco, ashes, vanilla and chocolate + some coffee. and fudge. Also dark fruits and smoked wood.

Bomber thanks to Brandon! Poured crystal-clear medium-dark brown with a good lookin’ cap of tan head. The aroma picked up moderately-roasted black patent and dark chocolate maltage paired with dry earthy accents.. I couldn’t really tell what hops they put in here, but they gave a nice bright contrast to the dark malts. The flavor found well-roasted black patent primarily with dark chocolate providing more bitterness and character on the edges.. a touch of earth and tar around.. finished very dry and a touch grainy. Medium-bodied with average carbonation on the palate.. very dry.. not great, but it certainly didn’t fail in any department.

Nitro pour. Lots of coffee on the nose. Perhaps a touch of butter. Pours black with a creamy nitro head. Coffee mocha sweetness with roast that comes through in the finish. Smooth, creamy, dry and roasty.

Black with a thin cream head. Aroma is heavy coffee and chocolate, caramel, and cream. Taste is mocha, coffee, an interesting faint lemon, but doesn’t seem like an infection...?

Courtesy of Acertain. Thank you Andrew. Nice concentrated cocoa, chocolate and coffee aroma. Black with dark ruby hints and a firm tan head. Big flavor concentration. Roast coffee, chocolate, stewed dark fruits. Toasty and roasty in the finish. Nice beer.
